I'd like to see a list breakdown of the actual models sold. How many of the Commodores were SS's, Falcon XR6/8 etc.

um ,but they are going to sell the car for the next 8 years :knock:, so the $1b investment is looking pretty good i'd say.A billion dollars for a new platform is chicken feed .

It's hard to fathom that Ford could get it so wrong for so many years and still be in business.

You're forgetting exports too, I think its nearly a 50/50 split now.

Don't know exactly, but according to what I think is a Holden press release posted on another forum:

"Strong sales of high end VE Commodore models such as SS, SSV and Calais V saw V8 Commodore numbers surpass the record of 10,982 set in 2003 by almost 500. Sales of V6 and V8 Commodores to private buyers were also up an impressive 35% on 2006, reflecting a growing popularity of the new VE range among Aussie families."

If nothing else, that tells you that close to 20% of Commodores sold are V8s, and the cheapest V8 Commodore these days is a $45k SS or Berlina V8.

Funnily enough, I fit all of those categories, being the private buyer of a V8 Commodore in 2007.

They did, actually. 57k cars in Australia alone this year, plus who knows how many exports, plus even more exports next year when the G8 deal gets into full swing. Multiply that over six or seven years production of that basic design, and it looks pretty good for Holden.

true, though to put it into perspective, they sold 485,650 HQ's in 3 years.
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

Yep, and the sales rate for the VT was much higher than the VE's rate is too.

There's no question that there are fewer large sedans sold now than there used to be...

I think the Mazda 3 is impressive, given it is the first on the list to be basically all private sales, and not fleet/rental/government/big business related.

Wonder how much of that personal debt is actually because of people buying cars?
