Here's some more on the Sportback.

I'd prefer the hatch shape than a small sedan, much more versatile.

They say April 2008 they will get info and take orders should be arriving shortly after that.

I'm going to hang on to my Xr6t for a while yet.. might get one towards the end of the year.

OK thanks for that, not too far away. Having said that, I would like to see exactly how the Oz spec Ralliart is specced and look, so I commit-don't want to order sight unseen. Looks like I will get a shitter in the meantime, been carless for a while now. Was gonna get a used Liberty GT but this has (potentialy) changed everything... It all is well this will be my first ever new car-no previous owners to have planted their grotty arses in it...

So I take it because there hasn't been an official release date set, an official price is unknown at the moment?

I'd love the retail of these to be near $40k, but when you can spec a vrx lancer up to around $30k, what are the chances?

Pretty reasonable, using that logic; have a look at n/a Impreza & Focus & Megane & Golf prices, f'rigzample.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

This has now just been released in the US, right? Is there any feedback on driving impressions by the press on-line yet?

I reckon that's pretty optimistic, there was an article in the paper a few weeks ago putting the the Ralliart Lancer release at later in the second half of this year.

At any rate if Mitsu manage to get most of the EVO good bits in the package, ie detuned EVO engine + SAYC driveline keep it under $45K (I really don't believe the sub $40K price) then they have a winner, the hatch back looks the goods.

I noticed the local Ralliart stealer has a HUGE sign saying the EVO X is about to arrive.

Pricing will sink or swim this. If it is anywhere near Rex pricing, I can't see anyone picking the subie
I own a two and a half litre Commodore
