The former outright record was Niel Allen in a McLaren F5000 car = 2:09.7
Took about 30 years for that to get broken. Imagine that car with some modern tyres and brakes now!

Yeah but they'll hold a higher corner speed through the right hander off mountain straight, and should be able to at least maintain the advantage to the top of the hill. I reckon it will be a fair whack faster. But then, it kinda should be shouldn't it?

Watching some DTM a couple of weeks back on Foxtel, they may need to raise some serious ground clearance to get around the Mountain.... those DTMs have fuck all suspension travel compared to the local cars.

Dont DTM run inlet restrictors? Wonder if it'll be removed.

Nup, the old DTM cars were the shizzle, ba-ding ding dinging their way up to 12000-odd rpm, sounded fucking awesome. The new DTM V8's just sound flat, nowhere near as good as our own V8 Supercars. I just reckon the old tech-fest DTM stuff had more character.

12,000 rpm? You're talking about the old 2.5L 4 cylinders right?

Well they were fucking up there somewhere weren't they? The racers I mean. At the time weren't they supposed to be second only in terms of engine tech to F1?

If it's the mid90s ones, I think they were all around 9-9.5k - but that's just from memory. I do recall something about really stupid rpms, but the engines grenading with regular frequency in testing?

Where'd you get that from Bill? I've only got a 2.07.7 by Neil Allen in a Maclaren F5000 which was way before the chase was installed.
