Most would be paying 50K alone for a block I'd imagine before it gets sent to the engine builder, especially given this would run up against the Unlimited 8+L super/turbocharged boys.

is there any reason they use a prop insted of a jet unit?

Much better bite and little chance of cavitation I would imagine.

I wouldn't think so.......the weight of the pump wouldn't differ much from a leg

Because you dont get good drive out of a jet unless you have some hull in the water (cause its really hard to convince water to jump up to get in the pickup)...& if you got hull in the water you got drag & that makes him slower

That's true. I once saw The Pupat going nowhere at the boat ramp on his jet ski because of this :D

Hats certainly don't seem to give you much drive :p

GTSboy - a perfect shape for airflow is not always a perfect shape for power, intakes that make power often seem to be at odds with what would work best from a pure flow point of view.
Things like port entry angle, swirl & biasing flow towards one side of the port can make an intake look awkward despite the fact that it makes more power than an 'ideal' intake.

Which class is Simon planning on running this boat in?
From memory there is a 1 litre penalty for a power adder or is it per power adder which would take it to over 8 litre into unlimited with four turbo's, either way sweet datsun motor.

Brakes are over-rated, they slow you down too much.
