Then dont claim that you are faster, or any such shit. Timeslips are proof, all you are currently doing is wanking.Chris

If I sold my car it would be worth 7k if I could find anyone willing enough to buy an overpowerd turbo p plater car(anyone who could drive turbo, would buy something else). Im talking about building it from stock not buying it built.Originally posted by Cal View PostIf you bought a very shit early Australian car, then yes. However, it would not do all the other stuff I'd want it to do. For $15K you could make it a 1/2 decent thing. If you started with a registerable Jap import, you could do it a bit cheaper.
Edit: I wrote that and then remembered I own this and if I sold it, it's probably worth about $15K: http://www.performanceforums.com/for...percharged+mx5
So you could build a mx5 that did 13's for 10k, but it wouldnt handle as well or be as comfy/whatver as the mx6? I know im being very picky here with the rules about the budget, just trying to show that my end result will be worth it as a car for me.
Will be fast(ish), will look nice, will be comfortable, will be original, will have air conditioning, gets 10L/100kms and for the <15k mark in the end. Im also getting my faded roof sprayed little dents that cunts who open their car doors too far have put into the sides etc.
For 15k, I couldnt buy a car that did what my mx6 can and look as decent doing it. And have pride of doing it myself etc. that is why I am satisified with my car. I mean 15k would get me some basic R33 gts-t or a S14.

I never not once said that me or my car was fast. I said anything like that. Edo came out first and said that my car is shit and slow. Im just saying that he cant know that.Originally posted by takai View PostThen dont claim that you are faster, or any such shit. Timeslips are proof, all you are currently doing is wanking.
I never came out saying oh my fucking shit my mx6 is so fucking fast, faster then your capri, faster then your corrolla faster then your mx5 blah fucking blah.
All I said and I repeat is that is FUCKING FAST ENOUGH FOR ME YOU FUCK. If fast enough for me is a 15 minute lap around wakefield then good for me.

You need to step back from your car and take a long hard look at it. Then drive other cars that are made to handle and be comfortable from the factory.
P.S. A 1JZ soarer with minor mods will be faster, more comfortable, more reliable, handle better, have more luxury features and better resale. Could be easily done for 15k

For $15k, you could easily do any of the following (built from a solid base to a good track/road car):
- S13/180SX - SR20DET, good suspension, WITH the all important Aircon, and probably a S14 or S15 nose too
- MA70 Supra - 2JZGTE, good suspension
- Z20 Soarer - 2JZGTE, good suspension, bodykit maybe
- AE86 - 4AGTE, damn good suspension
- KE35 - Middle of the O2L class IPRA car
- AE92 Corolla - 4AGZE, good suspension, WILL thrash your crapper anywhere
And several more. Take your pick, ALL will be faster, handle better, cheaper to maintain, and most more comfortable than your car. Plus they ALL look better.Chris

And for the record, I made an emotional choice about my car and have spent way too much money for something that will have average handling and acceleration. Do I care? Do I spout shit about how good my car is at every opportunity? Nope, I get on with my life and appreciate my car for what it is and other cars for what they are.

I want to go back to the question of torque steer and wonder how it is not a problem. It is a fucking huge problem and anyone who has driven really powerful FWD cars knows this.
I have driven cars like rogercordia's (by like I mean shitheap Cordias with dash conversions) with upwards of 350HP and they are fucking dangerous to use much more than 25% throttle on any suburban street.Originally posted by bugleThe non GTS's were gay

- MA70 Supra - 2JZGTE, good suspension - been done
- Z20 Soarer - 2JZGTE, good suspension, bodykit maybe Ill take my boat on the water thanks
- AE86 - 4AGTE, damn good suspension - Been done before
- KE35 - Middle of the O2L class IPRA car again
- AE92 Corolla - 4AGZE, good suspension, WILL thrash your crapper anywhere Been done before
An mx6 looks better then an older corrolla and the other cars you mentioned. They to me look old and I would prefer a modern looking 90s car over an 80's shape. I dont see how any would be more reliable? My car hasnt let me down yet. parts are easily available. Im only working with a stock engine, ill just replace if it fucks up. My compression numbers are what they were at 1 year ago even with 6 month of boosting.
Be honest with me, are you too retarded in seeing that modifieing a car is about making it to your likings? Why did you choose the corrolla over a Supra, or over a skyline? Why is it so important that I choose a car to modify that will suit you nicely? Im happy with my choice, if I could go back, I would do it again. I wouldnt be happy with a Skyline or supra, because I know all im doing is the same thing.
I love, fucking love people saying hey those mx6's arent turbo how come you have a front mount. People see my setup, this is people with 50k invested in their cars and saying "you did a great job, it goes good, you got balls etc etc". They have spent so much money, go for a drive with me and say nice fucking work man you did good, never seen anything like this before.

Torque Steer is a damn big problem, especially with unequal length driveshafts. The Corollas have pretty close to equal driveshaft lengths, but you still get a bit. Especially when its making 9psi at 1200rpm. The worst i have driven was my Turbo 626, which would try to tear the steering wheel out of my hands to the right on a hard launch. Oh yeah, thats the same gearbox that Mazda used for the MX6 too, all of them.Originally posted by GTSBoy View PostI want to go back to the question of torque steer and wonder how it is not a problem. Hell even my wife's 121 gets some semblance of torque steer, especially in the wet.Chris

yes but i think being unique is something that is a side effect of your choice rather than the reason for doing up the mx6
look i understand where you are coming from
you're a university kid with not a great deal of money
for whatever reason you landed with a mx6 - it's not the best car for a 'performance' platform but it's not dire like a cordia either
you built it up the best you can
it may be pretty good for in many ways PF is very traditional about the way it goes about things
there's a lot of nissan/toyo/pushrod/falcodore love here because these things work
i would love a legnum or caldina or something more weird but PF is very conservative in many ways and unwilling to look at someone who has done something different
do we believe in fwd cars? noOriginally posted by boxxx

Boat my arse, 1200kg. About the same as the MX6s.
P.s.
If this isnt hotter than an MX6, then you need your eyes and testicles checked

P.p.s.
Hawt:

FWIW Legnum == lush luxobarge which goes damn nicely up snowy icy roads damn quickly. Just needed better headlights.Chris

. My mx6 is not a stock turbo car. I have the v6 model, that I turbocharged. Much more powerful(with the boost) and better handling(stock on stock) then the older model.
