Went to aussie frogs, got told to buy a quicker car, which i can't/won't be doing, unfortunately.

Bolt on turbo, as much fun as it would be, is too hard for me, and sounds way to exxy. Same goes for gti engine swap, no idea how to do it and paying somebody would cost me an arm, a leg and a kidney?

I'll be in uni for the next 3 and a half years, so won't be getting enough dosh to buy a different car anytime before im finished, so i thought i'd potter along putting some cash into this as i go.

So basicly an exhaust, brake fluid and lines, intake, slightly larger rims, and good rubber? Reco's on places to get said stuff done in perth?

I'm just about to order myself some driver training days as said above, I have realized im not a driving god.

Either just drive it as it is or trade it in on something faster. If you love your pugs then get a 206GTi...if not buy something else.

Any mods you make will make less than 10kw unless youve done serious work to the internals...& that will cost more than its worth

best new P plater evar. good on ya.

My advice, suspension and good tyres make for a quicker car than one with a big engine and crap everything else.

extractors and exhaust, panel air box and filter off a commodore or something (forget pods they are overrated and for cop baiting fashionistas) some good tyres and save up for some very good suspension and an ECU chip and tune. Consider an engine swap to a later/better GTi engine or save up for a newer car.
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

Your at uni, spend the money on banging business chicks, it'll be better value.

If you really want to do something do the driver training, then go do sprints, motorkhanas et al. A quickish driver will make your car faster than a shit driver in an evo.

Forget the exhaust tradition pug stuff (like 90% of modern cars) exhaust are good and you'll probably lose power. Get your mechanic to put super dot 4 or something like that brake fluid in it. when the current pads die or you find you're getting brake fade at the track upgrade it. When the current tyres run out, upgrade to a decent tyre. Currently you won't be able to use 80% of the cars ability so why bother upgrading it.

haha thank you secoh, i think?

saving up for a new car is a job for when i finish uni, and start earning more than $14/h..

pirelli tyres im guessing are one of the better ones?
anybody car to reccomend a good set? will be buying some larger rims, only have the stock steel fleet-mobile ones on at the moment.

All of this is planning, for when i have saved enough to buy anything..

Unless you're up in the P zero ranks most seem to say they aren't that crash hot.

Better off with Bridgestones adrenalins, Yoko C-drive, Falken Azenis (or whatever they're called now).

Every time one of the mags does a tyre test, Pirellis seem to have performance that doesn't reach the lofty heights of their price tags. I've had performance-oriented Michelins and Bridgestones in the past and can recommend both.

Back in the day, there was a member on here who had a 205GTi. We used to go for "spirited drives" on some well known roads. Now my car probably had double the hp and awd vs his Fwd. However he kept up. His secret? Probably a good driver but **** me could that car handle well. Moral of the story, get good tyres (in his case semis vs my road specs), brakes and sort out your suspension. These things can make a car just as quick as a much "faster" car on the road rather than the quarter mile.

                        Now THERE'S an idea.

Sell your 206 and get a 205GTi. That'll keep you entertained.

                              Good idea

I have a 205GTi that I did an Mi-16 engine conversion about 12 months ago.

Looking at about 160hp at the fly in an 850 kg car :D

You may find every now and again that one crops up on aussiefrogs for sub $10K, the 206 may not get that much, but save your cash up, dont mod the 206, sell the 206 and put the difference into a decent 205GTi and it would be a better bet.

A set of tyres and a few driving courses should see you get the best out of the car, its all about keeping the corner speed up rather than outright power in these cars, keep the standard shocks and springs or you lose the ride comfort.

As the old saying goes, you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Keep it, drive it, or save up for a 205GTi with the Mi-16 engine.

                              And yeah, they are fun
