Whilst the 205 might be a better car in some respects, its a lot older. There's something to be said about having a relatively modern car with some creature comforts (yes I am getting old!). The 205 is very basic inside in comparison to a 206.

Couldnt have said it better myself

The plastics are teh suck, its only the fact I have a decent one and now it has the 16v motor that I will be keeping it. Outside of that, its a pain in the arse on a rough road.

Yes Rorge, I found teh internetz. :D

surely it cant be too expensive to get a hold of a 206gti engine and get someone to put it in

i cant see the whole process costing more than 2k

you dont need one set of rubber for the road and one set for the track you dont have enough power to warrent that spend, just buy one set of good street rubber like say fedral SS or something

              Fixed

Whilst the market might be small for those that would want the motor, it's an even smaller market again for spares.

If you're paying to get someone else to do it, I would guess it would cost about $5k - assuming $2k for the engine, $1k labour, $1k wiring, $2k for parts (eg clutches, belts etc).

Question is how many GTi engines are there floating around?

And why is everyone assuming the OP would only ever swap his Peugeot for a different type of Peugeot?

go to the goodyear tyre center on high road in williton and get a set of federals,
wilkonsons suspension center for other handling components,
Dattoman1000 on here for brake stuff,
gogear for intake kit (should be off the shelf for a 205 hopefully),
lots of guys in perth including the world renownd TJ swear by Mettams Morley but i like Exhaust Dynamics .

To be honest I wouldn't even bother upgrading anything on your car. A proper driver training course will give you the best run for your money and not leave you out of pocket later down the track.

As said previously, drive the 206 around while you are at uni and on your Ps, then when you have money after that, buy a faster car. Then when you are over 25, buy a big fuckoff performance car.

PS: if you have a need for speed, why not just save up some money and invest in a project/track car instead?

                        sell 206, buy mx5?

I dare say the mx5 would be cheaper to run in the longer term....

Looks like im going to get exauhst, tyres, intake then saving for a bummed out mx5 to make it into a track car.

Will deff get quotes from Mettams Morley and Exhaust Dynamics if you say their the go then.

but thanks to a fuckhead mate i now have a sound system in my car, his is broken so he installed it in mine so i could "enjoy" it, and it has confirmed the thought that sound systems are for leb fags.

Do some minor mods such as intake and exhaust if you like, then save your money and buy a GTi or preferably a GTi 180.

I had a GTi 180 for 3 years and it was a really fun car with a fair bit of go for a small NA car. Definately the best aspect of 206s is the handling though.
