I know you want to let the car sit for a few months but can't you just reregister it and resist the temptation to whip out the mig and start modifying?

I can't afford to rego it for a couple of months and was thinking if I register it in two months I only get 10 months use. I also got my DD registered today so the two cars regos would be due in the one week...

Either way you don't need import papers after the first rego in Aus.
