So instead of Ford support 10 teams (some of which got very little support anyway) they are now only going to support 4 or something along those line.. Yeah massive sign of problemsOriginally posted by Nafe View PostYep, Ford's cutback on spending on the series is a great display of support. It may not be dying, but the fact they are desperately trying to cut costs means they see the danger signs of the series imploding if they don't change the way they run things
, I see it as Ford (and GM with their cut back) trying to save some bucks which they are entitled to as have you read about their parent companies but they are not just going to cut and run from the sport.. There is still plenty of other cashed up big businesses in Australia who can spend a few mill a year to get their name on the door and 25 seats in a corporate tent to get clients pissed, watch some racing and at the same time have some product branding time on TV

Plenty of business with the cash, but not all of them want to spend it on V8Supercars. Why do you think there is such backstabbing and underhanded tactics when it comes to trying to steal sponsors? Because the cashed up guys arent interested in blowing millions on V8s.Nathan

Yep, the series is struggling through a total lack of sponsors. There are definately better motorsport series out there to spend money on for TV coverage. Thats why all the other series are so successful, because all the sponsors are leaving V8supercarsOriginally posted by Nafe View PostPlenty of business with the cash, but not all of them want to spend it on V8Supercars. Fuck off Guy, read what I said. I never said it was strugglnig for sponsors. But the fact that one of the manufacturers is cutting back support to it's teams, the series itself is looking at cutting back expenditure (TREC anyone?), Team Kiwi on the ropes despite having huge NZ support, DJR only just getting a sponsor which is paying them any sort of decent cash (plus a wealthy co-owner now).... surely these are all signs that the costs are getting out of hand, and they are trying to reign it all in?Nathan

Of cause they are trying to cut friggin costs you don't need to be a genius to work that out.... Bloody expensive to run v8 super cars but that doesn't mean the series is doomed :knock:Originally posted by Nafe View PostFuck off Guy, read what I said. I never said it was strugglnig for sponsors. Team kiwi will always be low on money, because what ever money they have and get is spend on going racing
same with alot of teams on a tight budget they are always going to be "short" of money because they "could" spend alot more... Doesn't mean they can put on a good show and place well but your just not going to win a championship on a small budget but again doen't mean the series is doomed...
But like I said they wanted 28 cars, they have 29 now so they can afford to lose another one

Name one motorsport series in the world that isnt trying to cut costs all the time, that doesnt have changes in teams & their ownership all the time.
Ive said it a million times, its fucking easy for any sponsor to cut costs. They just reduce the amount they spend. Of course this will mean your sticker gets smaller & your bum gets licked less because someone else will step in to take your place. Trouble is, they all actually want more for their money, but arent willing to pull the pin on it because they know its a competitive market & someone else will pay if they dont.
So its just bullshit grandstanding crap to say that its too expensive, if the returns werent perceived to be there for manufacturers or sponsors they would reduce their spending as a whole & the budgets would shrink, but this just isnt happenning.

I said the series would be in trouble if they didn't do it. I never said it was dying. And no one has backed up this claim of there being so much sponsorship around.... if its there, why are teams struggling at all? Why can;t they get some of these millions of bucks magically floating around waiting to be spent on V8s?
The justifications for 28 cars is pure cochrane PR talk. Why didn't he want 28 cars last year or the year before or the year before? Because he wanted 32! All of a sudden he makes some lame "transport" excuse that 28 is better. Newsflash - don't race overseas and give us more cars instead!
28 cars at Bathurst is a fucking disgrace IMHO.Nathan

Teams aren't resorting to two separate sponsors in order to run (HSV, SBR)?
Teams aren't teetering on the brink? (TKR)
Teams struggling to even get a run in the series (Walden Motorsport)?Nathan

Name one that doesn't announce record crowd figures to sell itself (well, any series that gets crowds). V8s are renowed for fudging the figures. If crowds don't matter, then why bother?Originally posted by edo View PostName one professional motorsport series that relys on ticket sales...its 99% TV.Nathan

AUSDRILL is a new sponsor to the main game. Do you remember me saying that buying shares in them would be a good idea?
wonder how many thousands they have given to patrizi to run? He has done two rounds so far......Royalpurple OilsOriginally posted by Carroll SmithThe price of Man in motion is the occasional collision.

Who is struggling? Why are they stuggling? Is it because they are shit & the only way they get on TV is to crash? Are sponsors then saying fuck it, lets get stickers half the size on HRT/FPV/SBR & get on telly 10 times more?Originally posted by Nafe View PostI said the series would be in trouble if they didn't do it. So the money isnt falling out of the series, its just moving around.
If you had $100k to spend would you give team kiwi that so you a sticker as big as the door or would you give it to Tanders car & have a sticker as big as your hand? If you give it to team kiwi, you better get a guaranteed crash or you have zero return.
Would you rather have 3 cars at Bathurst that can win, 10 that might circulate 20 seconds off the pace for most of the day & then a bunch of corollas that are so far off the pace that their Bathurst 1000 is really just an 800?
