Yeah I reckon the RA Colt is neat bit of gear, it'd be the closest thing to driving a turbo kei car in Aust.

Yeah I'm not sure aussies are still into the 'box on wheels' thing. An ugly car no doubt.. I'll just try not to look at it (and I think I got it in one of the few decent colours)

It might not be the case here, but in the crowded cities of Japan. A kei car can be so much fun, economical, cheap to run/insure and easy to park. I used to love wringing the living life out of the kei car. Zipping through small tight streets, throwing it into corners, tackling tight mountain roads...

I used to know a guy who owned a 106 GTi over there, while not a kei car it was tiny thing but the work he did on it by god it really surprised alot of people...he'd sweep in and out of traffic at 150kph+ along the wangan. Would have been nice if we had the 106 GTi in Aust.

I'd actually really like one of the quicker Kei cars, but I doubt I'd be able to fit behind the wheel...

Anyone know if the colt price is a run out thing/one off sale/end of financial year coming?

                It's a few things
                a) The build dates are old, compliance plates are new
                b) The model is being discontinued
                c) A new Ralliart colt may be coming out with a bit more power, curtain airbags, but losing the recaros and a price drop to make it more realistic ($29990 is too much). Not sure if this is confirmed or not.

If you're interested there's only a few left around the country.

Yeah i saw one in town here today, im sure they would still want the 30k. Thinking i might need an economical/reliable but still fun car come about august. Got a feeling it will be too late by then.

They should have made a one-series race out of the left-over ralliart colts

Bargain at around 21K on road.

I assume the recaros are not compatible with side/curtain airbags.

Correct. I'd probably have preferred the airbags, but some decent seats like the Polo's

Yeah I know, bloody tragic. Blame wife, 2 kids and dog in near future. At least SWMBO has allowed me to get a toy in the future.

                          Anyway back to the Colt.
Red looks shit, black looks OK, the grey looks the mutts. The white, a couple were imported, looks OK. I recall seeing a yellow one which looked odd.

So "ok" is as good as it gets? Or does "mutts" = good?
I own a two and a half litre Commodore

I remember sitting in one of these at the motor show, not bad, and the price here is excellent. I can't believe you are buying a new car without a test drive though. You might hate it!!
