I found the same thing with CMP is that with alot of things they sell are pretty much as good as jegs/summit on price when you figure in postage/gst/duty and way easier to just get from someone local...Originally posted by boothy View PostMost parts are prob made in figgin china too.
Got the same parts quoted for a total of $2400.00 from CMP.com.au in Australia so $200 more....

Awesome, this just made some yank parts I want to buy a bit more appealing.Originally posted by stumbles View Postif its manufactured in the USA and the supplier provides you with a origin certificate then yes.
So no import tax or duties at all for american made goods?Originally posted by MarvShe most likely doesn't bathe, thinks basket-weaving should be in the Olympics and has a vagina that looks like Dumbledore's beard.

So if you import something that requires you to pay duties, do you need to pay an import broker or can you just pay it and get it sent on?Originally posted by MarvShe most likely doesn't bathe, thinks basket-weaving should be in the Olympics and has a vagina that looks like Dumbledore's beard.

Not sure how the other carriers do it, but with FedEx we'll call you and tell you what the D&T amount is. If all the paperwork is present and correct, and the relevant authorities don't flag the shipment for inspection, this will be done within 24 hours of it being picked up. You can use a 3rd party Customs broker but in our experience this can be more hassle then it's worth.

I am about to purchase a built motor from the US. The freight agent (xscabbage) has told the seller, I will only incurr a customs brokers fee but not have to pay any GST or import duties would this be correct?, price of the motor and postage is a touch under 10k USD (but no invoice will be forwarded through the freight just a email of the invoice), I'd hate to get reemed and slogged with 15% on top of that, is it possible to get this motor classified as "vintage automotive parts"? or any one have experience with importing complete motors from the US??

you still need to prove this is the case. original purchase invoice or evidence it was exported for repair etc etcOriginally posted by WTF View Posttwo words "warranty replacement"
end of story..
duty and gst would still apply.Originally posted by geforce View PostMotor is a 2jz "used" - rebuilt motor, would there be a possibility of incurring the duties/GST on used parts? or does it only apply to new items?.Originally posted by oioioioioihow about you go buy a kilo of sausages you lazy fuck, and then fucking count them

I bought 2 camshafts for US$300 and customs whacked on a tax of nearly that much again because it didn't meet anything on their list of exempt engine components.Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons
