how is a car with racing seats, harnesses and a rollcage a bog standard car? it wouldn't even be roadlegal over here. . .


apart from that, it's a whole fucking lot better than fifth gear.

true, and i totally agree. but don't call it "bog standard". "reasonably priced" is more fitting. but they couldn't just nick that, i suppose . . .

and fifth gear reviews performance cars on how spectacular they drift. if anything, fifth gear reviews the drivers more than the cars.

or like that time "let's take a golf gti, and see if engine upgrades and suspension mods make it faster round a track"

if there's anything you can't say bout fifth gear it's that the challenges are worth their time.


and the presenters are gay, and the chick is too much like a kinder garden nanny.

oh yeah, that reminds me of that time they compared the nissan note with a daihatsu materia (yes, i might be a bit biased, but still). choosing a more expencive, less efficient, slower car over the cheaper, faster, more special looking one, cause it's made in brittain, well, that's just queer.

god, i strongly dislike fifth gear, and yet i keep on watching it . . . mainly cause they talk about cars.

Oh, and the heavy handed use of the vignetting in the camera work on the segments was a bit much too. I know it's a trademark, but it looked crudely applied compared to most of what the UK Top Gear segments look like.

Why dont they just put 3 serious racing drivers on there, make it a show about seriousness. Atleast that way, some of the jokes would be funny.

Trying too hard to be funny like the original 3 ends up like that shit......

Vince Colosimo was a funny cunt. "Mate there used to be this really long line of shops, all glass along the front, and mate you used to just drive down there and get a full on reflection of your car in the windows mate, it was unreal"

I reckoned they needed to treat it as more of an 'intro' show - set the scene a bit. Introduce the hosts, the track, the stig. They were definitely trying to cram about 15mins too much content in their slot. Hopefully they'll get better and find their groove, the first show wasn't too bad but still has some way to go.

I didn't mind it. I enjoyed the soft roader challenge. I would have liked to have seen them take on some more interesting terrain.
But if you think about the Boxer/Jim/Edo combo, it would be 3 guys that kinda know each other already, thus would have that rapport that the produces would have been looking for already. We could have Edo reviewing a 911 or a WRX or hey, hang on, is there any cars Edo likes?
There could also be a "but is it faster than RZ's supra" wall.

I will watch it again.

Biggest dissapointment for me were the hosts. Charlie Cox just didn't look comfortable at all and really came off as trying too hard. The other two weren't too bad.

As for the segments, well the surf to snow "softroader" wasn't too bad, there were a few laughs there but you couldn't read much into the performance of the cars from the so called "challenges".

Both the Maybach & moke segments were a f@##n waste of time.

The Carrera segment was ok, at least we got some specs & saw some on road footage etc.

Vince Colosimo and the "bog standard" car was alright but it looked as though they struggled to get any interesting in car footage of Vince on his hot lap. Not really their problem though.

I always look forward to seeing the Stig and seeing the cars really put through their paces. This segment was ok but it would have been a lot better if they had of gone through the layout of the track before the runs.

The show has potential, I'll keep watching in the hope they can lift their game.

Overall it was OK, but a bit annoying. Hopefully they will relax in to the roles, stop shouting and remember to take some time and talk about the cars! The "bog standard" car should be a Falcadore, I want to see the celebs smoke it around the course
