Top Gear Australia - Date Announced

The show was terrible, I didn't compare it to the UK version either.
Just seemed they were "trying" to hard to be funny or creative.

The Host + Presenters seemed way too chirographed (sp) and scripted to me.
I'd rather watch ACA and Today/Tonight do a car show then that rubbish again!

Oh, and another thing, the stories in it were STUPID!

I thought it was ok, but nothing more. There were quite a few times where it just came across as lame, especially some of the fo shizzle stuff.

It was obvious that they didn't want to stray at all from the established formula or weren't allowed to. I can understand that, but it needs to have it's own flavour rather than just poorly immitating every aspect.

The race track segment was lame, the camera angles gave no sense of speed. I had no idea what was happening as I had no idea on the layout of the track. This part reminded me of the earlier episodes on Top Gear. The on track stuff back then wasn't the greatest a few seasons ago, but they've improved it a lot.

As others have said, they didn't really review most of the cars, with the exception of the Porsche.

It's only the first episode, so hopefully once a few are under their belt they will have got it together.

The first episode of The Panel was scripted to the shithouse as well, that turned out being an OK show as I recall.....

& I reckon by the time Im back from my holiday at the end of Nov it will have been canned.

Has anyone else read what other forums are saying about it, boostlosing and such? After reading the work motorcar newsgroup it seems that although there was a lot less colourful language that others are being cynical about it too, not just PF'ers.

That explanation about the gearbox was crap anyways. The way he told the story the Porsche has the only gearbox in the world with 2 shafts in it.

It has 2 mainshafts and a common layshaft; or so I understand. Kinda sounds the same but isn't.

I am still trying to work out their target market. It's not enthusiasts; it's not entertaining enough for families and it's too technical for lay people. Where does that leave it?
