I actually watched the w427 review with the HSV styling/design guys, no one was impressed at how they reviewed the car.

Any chance of getting them to review another holden.... this time with faulty door locks and faulty exhaust?

I reckon everybody would chuck a party at these guys becoming stiffs.

Holy shit, that was nearly a decent episode. They reviewed TWO CARS!

I was watching some of the first series of the 'new' Top Gear on the weekend and some of it was pretty woeful and quite nerdy. It's not even clear that Clarkson knew at that stage that it would turn into the style it is now. At one stage they had Grandmas doing donuts in an S2000 and Ford designers doing interviews, boring stars in a car on which some of the laps had no commentary. The 'insider trader' was interesting but not particularly entertaining - all the kind of stuff that would have you blokes vomiting all over your keyboards. Even then the 'reviews' of the cars were not that thorough and more based upon entertainment and comedy value.

Took 6-7 episodes to get the humour and the style defined. Rest is history, and a hard act to follow!
