for those of you in melb there is the 2nd official RS cruise coming up on the 8th of December. Going to be a great day down to Portsea and then up Arthurs Seat....mmmm twisties :D

Someone from the Fast Fours Forums bought an RS, and asked me what motor I ran.
He said he ran an EJ22 single turbo.

I said doubt it.

He said modification plate has EJ22 on it.

The car is COMPLETELY stock. Would it be fair to assume this is probably a GX coverted to RS?

You'll be able to tell from the seats in it and or instrument cluster... and also the model number in the engine bay.... ask him what kind of cooler it has on it and such...

The U.S market had ej22 turbo's that put out less power than our ej20's !


but it could be a really dodgy.. buy a gx... buy a wrx manifold.. throw it on.. and run it and hope it doesn't blow up...

but realistically a good condition ej22 with exhaust manifold and such.. would be capable of fun

I saw your intercooler piping... I never imagined it would fit down the front of the engine...

Wouldn't it be getting exceptionally hot from the exhaust sitting right beside it ? as thats where the crossover pipe runs ?

Well all FMIC's on EJ20T's have to go over the exhaust.
But you can do it so the piping goes anti-clockwise, as on mine, so it goes over the exhaust before the cooler, or do it so it goes clockwise and goes over the exhaust AFTER the cooler......

Theres no choice.

When I do mine I am going to see if I can rotate the intake housing of the turbo so the angle isn't so extreme... I believe it can be done with minimal fuss... just have to remount the wastegate... if I can rotate it about 90 degrees the outlet will be firing right to the side of the engine bay, so no 180 degree bend required..

Undoing the retaining clamp that holds the two housings together... and spinning the wastegate diaghram around ? I dont see that as a hassle dude

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it though... just trying to source a cooler for the time being...
