and i thought the chevvy volt is pure electric? im pretty sure its a marketing exercise anyway, they should have just used something similar to the EV-1 again, pretty sure it had shiteloads more than 30km range.

Do it for the shens/personal interest, but don't do it thinking you won't be wasting money

Hmmm - selling a 250cc motorcycle to get something economical....

That has to be some sort of long winded oxy-moron.

i thought you had the worlds most economical wrx anyway?

i think it's been mentioned somewhere already, buy a honda insight, but even then the purchase price might takes ages to pay off or make up the difference anyway.

economical gti? my mate had one (well multiple models actually) not sure how a 1300cc can suck so much juice down?

fun cars but, i have to say, it's all about the weight advantage or more so power to weight ratio, with early gen gtis the best.

about the comment regarding the turbo 3cyl charade, you can actually beat it! buy a non turbo 3cyl charade!

these cars, performance and safety aspects aside, are a very genuine economical car to run, they don't even have the capacity to use much more if you flog them, and considering the throttle is wot all the time due to the average power, pumping losses are also reduced.

i vote 3 cyl charade on lpg, the mind could only boggle as to how cheap it would be to run then!

Oh yeah, my 121 got 84mpg once. Won the ACT Council of car clubs fuel economy challenge, and then got banned the next year.

I was a memember of the Triumph club and the run was done by the MG club. I pissed a few people off with the win, nearly won on handicap except the rego weight was wrong, too light. The next year they informed me that they rather I didn't enter since the car was newer then the intent of the event, car was 18 months old. I will admit I knew the filler neck held and extra liter after the first click on the bowser, they refilled to the first click.

I haven't missed the point at all - I'm setting the bloody point.
It'd cost naff-all, because the money I spend would come from the sale of the CBR250. Most of the bits I need I already have sitting around here, and I can machine up the rest without too much trouble. That's one of the reasons why I picked the Swift, and also because they're small & light and I can leave it at the airport without worrying about it at all. (Just thought I'd say all that again to help it sink in)
I don't know jack-shit about LPG and don't feel like learning it, though there seems to be good reason to given the few cases stated here. I'll have to have a think about it.
I like the technical challenge of getting the very best I can out of any car, and this is one area I have only lightly dabbled in. Yes I often get about 8L/100km out of the WRX but I'd like more and it's not going to happen with that car, and again I'll say I don't like leaving it at the airport and also putting all those extra K's on it. I figure I can get 750km out of a tank in the WRX, but I'd like more. (have cracked 700km with fuel to spare)
The CBR250 isn't that good on fuel - I haven't really tried on a long run yet but so far it hasn't cracked 60mpg or 4.8 L/100km. In a car club economy run many years ago I tried hard and got 55mpg or 5.1 L/100km out of a basically stock KE20 Corolla. So I figure that I should be able to do much better with a similar-sized car but with a much smarter engine.
Yes I'd like to use something a lot more modern (like an Echo with a 1.3 litre 2NZ variable cam engine) but it's way beyond the budget. I guess I could fit a 2NZ into the Swift, but that's a big additional cost.

So you are working on the theory that if you have it, it is free?
