I give no fuck for a cars name , more how it goes and how it looks.

I must say that EVO does sound pretty gay though.

No such thing. The two door was released with the introduction of the LX Torana in '76.

You might be onto something there Lobster, wasn't too sure from that single pic, but the ones on caradvice certainly look like her.

Heh! That is the first Bathurst I recall aswell. The only Torana I think is the ducks nuts is the A9X Hatch. That thing is awesome! :worship:

I have vague recollections of that - however I remember watching the TWR jag win the year before.
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

The first bathurst I remember was the VH, I think fury's bluebird was in the same one.

                  Correct, fixed.

Yes but I prefer them heavily modified, so I wouldn't dream of modifying an original A9X, I'd just start with a standard hatch.

So I went along to the show yesterday and yep, pretty dull all round. Maybe it's just because I'm not interested in buying anything at the moment, but I struggled to find many cars that I really liked.

                      A few observations:
                      * Caddy CTS was very nice, probably the biggest surprise package there. Really nice interior, and if the styling works for you (I love it, but I can see how people could hate it) then it could be a winner.
                      * Couldn't believe how badly built the FG Fords seem to be - really sloppy alignment and fit, really cheap feeling controls. I hope the cars at the show were early build cars or something, because I wouldn't want to lay down my own money for one after seeing those.
                      * New Fiesta is actually really cool for a small runabout, great styling and really nice interior. Also pretty much the only one of those really small cars that a guy my size (6'4" and 100kg) could drive comfortably. XR4 should be a cracker.

As for the rest....meh. Worst stand of the show went to Toyota by a long way - biggest car company in the land had a really small stand, and two of its biggest sellers (Camry and Aurion) only seemed to be there as display models set into the wall, not actual cars to look at? Weird.

What's the point? People that buy Camrys and Aurions don't go to Motor shows.

heh i thought the exact same thing when looking at the VE's.
its interesting how rose colour glasses have an effect.

That's true in the sense that I don't particularly like Falcons generally, but the one I looked at really was a very poor example. For instance, the six switches under the display screen in the centre console all felt different (even though they were identical switches), the plastic around the seat base was already coming loose, the doors had different levels of stiffness in the handles and felt flimsy, there was some untidy finish around the edges of the roof lining (where it meets the rear window in particular) and the leather was some of the worst leather I've seen in a car.

The VE isn't built to Lexus standards, for sure, but it's a long way ahead of that.
