Anyone else think his chances of success are a bit remote? - eg guy in front was able to see the flag, and thats the reason he slowed.. he didn't see the flag?
This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...

Agreed. That sort of negates his argument doesn't it.

It sucks the the incident left him confined to a wheelchair...

The incident has confined Dumbrell to a wheel chair for the rest of his life, which he is claiming will cost him millions in day-to-day care.
Dumbrell, who now owns and operates his own V8 Supercars team
          really???

            My thoughts to.

I assume as long as the flags were out and the officials were doing everything by the book he won't have a case?

Harsh as it sounds, but the crash happened because he simply didn't react in time. Similar crashes happen every year all over the world, in this case the result was pretty devastating. To be honest I can't see how much more could have been done at the time to alert him it was a safety car situation. Do they have flashing yellow lights in the cars for full course yellows? That's about the only other thing I can think of that they could have done.

Not knowing him personally I can't really say how it's impacted his life.
In my experience dealing with vehicles fitted with wheel chair lifts, the owners generally are bitter twisted angry people, and I suppose I would be also.
But, at the same time, every time I jump in the race car I know I could possible came away from the drive either injured or dead, but you sort of push that thought aside justifying what you're doing as safe and over time even start to think it won't ever happen to you because you're a 'safe' driver now you've got some experience and track time and laps under your belt, then BAM out of nowhere you're a quad that owns a V8 supercar team.

This. It must be devastating for him and his family/friends, but that is part of the risk of motor racing. It gets somewhat safer every year with new technology, but there will always be an element of risk which must be accepted by those competing.

Even as a spectator I used to see written on my ticket something like "Motor racing is dangerous, by entering the track you accept that the owners/organisers are not responsible for any injury/death that may occur." Haven't seen it on my recent tickets, or I haven't looked close enough.

Its shithouse what's happened to this bloke. No doubt.

But, if he wins, does he destroy motorsport ? I know they would be covered under insurance (I assume), but the impact of such a financial hit and the fear of being sued again and even the ability to meet/get insurance would become a factor.

I think it's a crazy case. You get into a racecar knowing the inherent dangers. That point aside, it pisses me off that he says 'it will cost me millions in day-to-day care' Well, luckily mate, you have those millions (old man is Autobarn etc for those of you that don't know, they are work fucking squillions) and there are plenty of other quads out there who don't.

Comes across as greedy cunt who wants to blame someone else for what has happened. Sure it is a shit position to be in and I wouldn't wish it on anyone but racing is dangerous and shit happens. Not to mention as others have said his own actions probably had a greater bearing on why the accident occurred in the first place. Most tracks have gone to the electronic indicators now anyway so if it is about trying to increase safety within the sport it seems plenty have already taken that measure.

No need to get stuck into him about how much money his dad has.

This is his fight about an incident he had. Anything else isn't related.
