Another vote for neutral to slight understeer with ability to power oversteer for RWD or in a FWD same as before but with the ability to lift off oversteer slightly when asked to correct understeer mid corner.

whatdydya just do a track days and discover this or something?

for the record high speed snap oversteer is awesome and I have the perfect car to experience it in, but it understeers too if you push it that way

just saw this on another forum:

Understeer is when you hit the wall with your front end. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with your rearend. Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall. Torque is how far you move the wall.

in that case in 2000 my WRX had oversteer first, then understeer, LOTS of horsepower and enough torque to dislodge a large steel pole holding in the barrier in the tunnel around parliament house.

Yuh, my HG Holden had understeer, then oversteer, then understeer, then oversteer, all the while having lots of horsepower, then because it didn't have enough torque it climbed up on top of the bank instead of moving it and did some understeer and oversteer on the roof.

In a daily driver, understeer. Its more idiot proof when commuting to and from work surrounded by other people still half asleep.

If that daily driver also doubles as a weekend toy, then the above doesn't apply.

Is that Sir John Whitmore in the front one?

Only way to make a wrong-wheel-drive relatively fun/quick around a track (provided it's reasonably progressive).

In a FWD neutral/mild oversteer on turn-in, plenty of lift-off oversteer is the way to go IMO. Needless to say on the gas it's gonna always be neutral-->understeer.

A poorly setup fwd (i.e 99% of them) which just chronic understeer no matter what you're doing is pretty depressing to drive.

understeer followed by lift off oversteer

Not wrong about the chronic understeerers being a very sad experience to drive.

After today's spirited drive I'm still all for a bit of oversteer in a FWD. It's very fun when all you need is some throttle to right it.

Watching the alfas today at lakeside made me smile more than I can remember watching motorsport in the longest time.
