I'll take a look for some other shit I have that might be helpful. I am moving soon and some of this stuff I've collected will have to go.

Concerning L6's, there are some very powerful engines coming out of a shop in Sydney, reasonably affordable too.Richard's DatsunZ lappin LakesidZ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47OSh...&feature=g-upl

measure the piston crown thickness - see what you can get away with as a minimum and machine the bowls deeper (or if flat top a slight bowl in them)Originally posted by Billzilla View PostIf I can get about 3 cc's out of the chamber the compression will be okay. He's sticking with the standard cam initially, maybe getting a bigger one later. So the static compression will be a little high as will the dynamic but with a bigger cam it should be okay. That's with the twin SU-like carbies on it, so cylinder filling will be okay but not quite as good as with individual runners.

MIA Engines Brookvale.Originally posted by clutch-monkey View Postdetails? i need to fix mine
James Flett.
Saves you wading all way through a link.
In md 1980's SSS Automitive, when it built rally cars, was putting together 2.4 L series for quite a few Group G Dato 1600's, Neal and Rick Bates, Gregg Brown, and a few others, i ended up with a hand-me-down ex rally drivetrain, put it into a road reg Club race car, and played on the various circuits in NSW. Had a ball.
The L series were never as powerfull as the U series engines, though, the most they got was around 230 hp at fly.
Couple f rally guys fitted worked U series in place of L, and did quite well.
No such things as KA, Z, or later type motors then.
Young fella here in Brissy, Nck Diggles ( bens brother) still loves his L20B, 12.6 secs at 120MPH a few weeks back at Willowbank, hairdryer fitted!if you get this far after reading the above, good on you!
If i make spelling mistakes, syntax errors, or just mss letters in words, it is because i am lw vision/vision impaired.
Dont drive or race no more. Bit of a cunt of a thing.
I cant see what keys my fingers hit when i type.
Its called Cone and Rod Dystrophy, un fixable, i get worse, its a hereditary cunt f a thing.

I ran 2.3 L20Bs in Group G until the end of the class. We got amazing power from them and they just keep going. FJ24's just started to turn up in the last 18months of Group G and moved the goal posts but until then L20B was all we had so R+D back then was intense. In the Late 90s my Old Datto had become a Club day car over a 7 year period, 1988 was it for Group G. The L20B remained but with much bigger Cam and more port work to the Works FIA head still running 13.2-1 comp, SR20s were now in use in 2ltr Clubcars yet the 2.3 "L" was still faster. I know where the motor is now and would love to freshen it and run it on a modern Dyno and E85 as Fuel was always a problem with the extreme Compression.GURU ENGINEERING PTY LTD

There will be takers in Brisbane but if you want a proper job done at a fair price then refer to my post in that link. There seems to be something about engine building that attracts the best and the worst so be warned.Originally posted by clutch-monkey View Postcheers, will send engine to him if no takers in brisbane.

someone like JHH or the mob that did the L6 in my spitfire would surely be able to sort it, it's just a datsun tractor motor.Originally posted by 260DET View PostThere will be takers in Brisbane but if you want a proper job done at a fair price then refer to my post in that link. if the latter can get 200hp from a triumph L6 without having to spend megabucks surely they'd piss it in with the datsun forklift motorOriginally posted by Walt KowalskiMemes are only detectable by NSA.

Most of the SSS crew are still around in one form or another - working on datsuns still, except for one eccentric machinist who used to have a bottle of scotch on the mill table at all times....Originally posted by dat2kmanIn md 1980's SSS Automitive, when it built rally cars, was putting together 2.4 L series for quite a few Group G Dato 1600's, Neal and Rick Bates, Gregg Brown, and a few others, i ended up with a hand-me-down ex rally drivetrain, put it into a road reg Club race car, and played on the various circuits in NSW. 17 or 30k for a build, must be some sort of record I must say!
