In my experience, Snap on is a fair rip off.....but the tools are good and have the lifetime guarantee. I Dont have many snap on tools but the ones I do have, and have been broken ahve been replaced no questions asked. Sidchrome/kincrome/sp all seem to be good value and reasonably robust. Stahlwille are bloody good too. For an apprentice just starting out, i would suggest the SP starter kits. I dont care how shit everyone thinks they are/aren't.... for the money you really wont find better. Their tool boxes are bloody strong, and the starter kits come with a good range of spanners/ sockets/ screwdrivers etc....

Is the Air Force in such an "unfinancial hole" that you have to buy your own tools ??

Clark rubber has this thin rubber mat which is much much cheaper than sheets of foam. I think it cost about $30 to do my rollcab.

Farking ow. What is it made of? Unobtanium?

Anyway, this is my $800 kit from earlier in the thread:

I need to get a new organisation system for the top so i can ditch the stupid plastic thing, but i would have to do that just as much for any kit, so all is fair.

the cab are quite neat in they have little locks you need to pull to open the door. they are quite sturdy units and the tools are in the other case he bought a couple of pages back.

Expect those cabnets to be cheaper next year as they are /might be obsolete
