    Nah they're 86mm x 86mm so a fairly long stroke.
I'd probably go for a 3RZ (the one with the good head design) and a de-stroked crank. You'd need about a 70.5mm stroke to make it under two litres and that would let you rev the buggery out of it.
FWIW the old Two Litre Supertourers used to get a bit over 300hp from a heap of two litre engines so it's all possible.

Current Honda K20A from Civic Type R (JDM Spec). It makes close to 230hp in production trim. Raid the Spoon or Mugen catalogue and you could probably get to 300hp.
If you dig a hole and it is in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn't going to help.

Police warn that blow-up dolls are not recognised floatation devices.

Fixed - there was the gen 4 redtop and the gen 5 blacktop BEAMS 3SGE engines. The gen 5 is a lot nicer in many ways.

Also just remembered that a mate of mine that runs Meridian Motorsport in Melbourne has the rights to build the Yamaha R1-based V8 engines of various capacities. I'm pretty sure that they offer a two litre version, but no it's not cheap.

what about the 2L sixes ? RB20DE or 1G-GE ? both of these engines would be cheap and rev like buggery.

In 1985 Group B Opel Manta 400's with the Twin cam head and bored to 2.4L were getting 300hp from the old Opel CIH motors, these days they are getting around 350hp from them.

With a suitable head theres no reason a Family II motor could'nt achieve 300hp....although i' be sticking with an FJ20DE or SR20DE myself.
