You can take your pick of a whole bunch of bmw motorsport engines if you want. You can go back to the 70's and look at the M12's, both the M12/6 and M12/7 were twin cam, NA 2L, 4 cylinders. F2 spec they pulled over 300hp out of them, even the GRP5 schnitzer 2L motors (similar motor, a little more like the S14) made about 280bhp.
