Build a 3 cyl 1L Twincam Turbo Charade engine, Very strong ,good head and under 2.0L with the Turbo. Not joking you around here, these are a bloody good little engine and your easyest path to U2.0L 300hp.

A 12a would have to get spun hard to make big grunt...

wouldnt have much down low.. not much fun in a track car I guess.

Anything small and turbo also equals lag.

Keep it n/a in my opinion.

Anyone thats spent time with U2.0L race engines will know they lack bottom end grunt and only make power at a rev range that would have a smart Turbo will into boost.

2 litre N/A engines normally dont have anything under 5000rpm.

I have some Yager engines at my Shop now,(Yager would be one of Australias best 2.0L race engine builders) and even these engines have to rev to make power. The power you want from 2.0L will cost crazy coin in NA form.

FWIW I designed a 940cc turbo engine for one of my cars (1600cc limit) and this is the result. It's only a rough run, but it could be made to go something like that. The rules also limit us to 8500rpm, with the larger 1170cc engine and no rev limit (that right?) you could do much better.
                  See attachment.

FWIW2 - the gearbox I'm using has about a 160 ft-lb limit before it breaks so I gotta use the Motec to control the boost per-gear and per-revs to keep it under control.

GTTI Daihatsu engines, These things had their own class in Rallying years ago and are very over engineered. People laugh because Charades are Nanna cars but don't over look this little engine for U2.0L racing.

The best engine that falls within FIA-CN (little sportscars) but 2 litre class regulations is the Honda F20C. This category makes 260-285bhp from 2 litre.

I note this one because it's almost entirely privateers or independents running in the category so they go straight for the best power for money.

You know they still manufacturer these engines brand new right? Like, you could walk in and buy one tomorrow

You missed the bit in the same quote where I said you could take your pick of a bunch of bmw motorsport engines too. Pick your 3 series and you'll find a hipo 2L motor being raced somewhere.

Besides, they look (and sound) great with slide throttles. :D

Must be buying the V8 pretty cheap then. It will cost you a good 30k to an M12, but like I said, the schnitzer 2L motors made similar amounts of horsepower but are a little cheaper to buy. Neither are just off the shelf engines though are they? 300hp from 2L probably isnt going to be cheap no matter which way you go about it.

Its a Z4 M Coupe Race car. Can walk in and buy one if you have the $$$$.

By my calcs, 12a exceeds 2 litre limit....2005cc. In the past, have been a couple of single rotors running in SS, with no great success - state level, when the multiplier was 1.8. Other alternative, 10a, good luck finding parts!

Bike bitzas wouldn't be allowed as it has to derived from a production car....2500 minimum quantity from memory.

Supertourers, from the few people I've spoken to, have said the 300hp+ was mostly fantasy even with all the destroking/head/block re-engineering carried out....unless the engine dynos here are magically more conservative.

Yea, funny because the non mivec twin turbo motor has same powers.

A 12a should comply, i have head about a 1% leaniency rule making it legal. But dont know if this is true.

Im starting to lean towards a turbo engine 3 cylinder daihatsu engine doesnt sound to bad
