The Bathurst Spec is a bare bones mid 90's FD.

Had the twin oil coolers and some rumoured to have more power. didn't have any of the fancy seats of the Rz Type Specs.

Rebuilds...

I can have my engine pulled in 3 hours, rebuilt for $2k, and installed in 3 hours. No major drama. As Sejay said, its when people get crazy with porting and exotic seals the price skyrockets.

Aftermarket Fe seals, PTS's, cost a grand a set.


A good tune is the most important thing for the FD, or any rotary. Lean out and denotation will kill it easy. They are also a maintance intensive car. If you can be fucked checking oil or water, then stay the fuck away.

i would only use mazda seals in a re build for a street car...

drag car is a different story...
