      Old boy got himself a 2010 XT premium turbo about a month ago and loves it silly. I havent driven it yet but from a precursory squizz it looks like a sweet bit of gear.

        Forester XT

        Pro - you can fit people in them
        Con - Ugly, fat, dull, blingnosed bullshit, and you'll get mistaken for cranky late 30's woman everywhere you go.

        VW Tiguan

        Pro - Its German and based on the Golf platform IIRC
        Con - Its uglier than a golf

                    You MAY get lucky and test drive one in melbourne. There arent ANY in sydney, and havent been for a month.

                    Had to look at customer cars in for service, no test drive.

                          What about that Skoda Octavia Scout thing which Skoda don't seem to be advertising at all? They don't look all upright-and-arse like a Forester or Tiguan, and they look to me as though they'd be more roomy than the Tiguan while being essentially the same thingy underneath.

                          If you haven't seen them, they are to an Octavia wagon what an Outback is to a Liberty wagon, and I think they only come in diesel form.
                          Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

                            We tested an octavia wagon, and it was a turd. We also tested an CX7, which was nice, but you need to drive on boost 90% of the time. Unfortunately we didnt get a chance to get into a tiguan, or the turbo diesel x-trail, but the biggest dissapointment i had was testing the Rav-4. I much prefer the rounded shape of the new forester, and compared to the old, there is so much more interior space.

                            I am always suprised at how big the forester is when parking next to pajeros/prados etc. And after 25,000km on it still feels as solid (inside and out) and smooth as it did when we picked it up.

                              Had the latest model forester since September last year. Got the dressed up XT model with body kit and different grille, makes it look a heap better!

                              First 3 weeks we had it we put 5000km on it on a road trip through VIC and SA, loved every minute of it. Never got tired or a sore arse, super comfy and got great fuel economy out on the highway.

                              Mods are easy now that the new WRX sedan has arrived. When companies make a bolt on exhaust, it will fit the XT. Exhaust alone frees up quite a few ponies.

                              A++ will buy again

                                Isn't that what all dealers say? From my experience it is.
                                Carsales.com.au disagrees.
