Yep. I liked the W427 as a concept, but even if I had the money I wouldn't have spent it on a car that was (a) that ugly, (b) offered me no choice other than a red interior and (c) cost waaaay more than the car it was based on.

T3 AUs were and still are quite a good bit of kit.
The last AUIIs and AUIII XR8s wernt bad either.

They were a helluva lot better cars under the skin than a VT/VX, just badly proportioned. Series II fixed a bit of the ugliness. Even when Holden switched to the LS1 I still had a helluva lot more fun driving a series 1 AU XR8 than I ever did in an SS/HSV, it felt like so much more of a living breathing thing, better handling, far superior IRS, better build, oldskool V8 roar. Obviously when you lined up at the lights there was nothing in it, but for the other 99.5% of the time I'd much rather be behind the wheel of an AU. Wouldn't take one over a BA though.
