ok let me be specific then '64/65 stang. Much less weight than falcon, less weight over the nose as engine further back in wheelbase, all USA repro tuning gear available, makes better use of it's rubber. This last bit is crucial for a modest spend car, the big cars suffer on the rubber side of things.

Mustang's engine is in exactly the same spot as a Falcon - they're not further back in the chassis.
Limited to a 289 with crappy heads. The '64 Falcon Sprint is lighter (under a tonne istr?) with the same driveline - they were dominating Nb just before Nc was created. Still WAY down on hp vs the big banger Nc cars - no replacement for displacement. The 550-600hp the front running cars run makes them deadly on rubber no matter what. If he wants a front running car, he's not going to be able to do it on a budget.

That's because the list stops at the end of 1971.

105 series Alfas are never going to be "pointy end" cars. They're quick, but not quick enough on most tracks in Oz.

GTAM listing is a mistake by CAMS (unheard of I know). The local eligibility dude nearly shat himself when dad showed him the specs for a GTAM circa 1971 (ie 2 litres, fuel injected, plastic arched, 13 x 10 wheels - effectively a sports sedan as per the TransAm rules). I'd post a picture if I could be fucked searching - google GTam.

However, since they now allow BDA Escorts, a full house GTAM 'should' be possible and competitive - but hugely expensive.

oh, and RX2 is most cost effective way to the front of the field, at some tracks anyway.

It was a fucking sweet clean car. Does he specialise in Alfas at all? I am in need of a new mechanic soon....

Paul Knott is his name. Doesn't specialise in Alfas but is good with performance type stuff.
There's always something interesting in workshop, I remember going there one time and he had a Bolwell Nagari Roadster on the hoist.
He's been building and racing cars for donkeys years.
Does great work, honest bloke and loves a chat.

Yes, I'm sure. They used the Falcon floorpan to build the Mustang back in 1964. The mustangs look like the engine is further back because of the longer front overhang. Firewall is in the same spot, and the engine mounts are hung off of the shock towers in the same way. It's why the RHD conversions were so easy - stitch in a Falcon firewall and convert the dash and you're away.

Vin Sharp has been working with the Biante guys to nut out a spec for a TCM GTAm which would be cool.

I think they'd correct the GTAm listing before they'd allow one in Nc - they're just too wild. Besides, they're still heavier and make less power (The GTAm heads flow less than a ported twinspark, and about 3 CFM more than a really good Nord head, and at 8,000euro or somthing rediculous for a head!) than a BDA scort.
BDA scort would be a good unit if the customer can wrap his head around a $60,000 motor in a $1,000 car.

A really Good XU1 has potential - Alf Bargwana's car is a good example till it went bang at easter.

It really depends on the track, and what sort of car the Customer wants.
