YEah I can't remember which one (Red I think) but once they go flat they are useless. Need one that can be recharged.

Have Odyssey which was designed for a jet ski in the rally car.
Have had it for 5 years, and no problem. Has been sitting for the last 18 months. Give it the occassional tickle and it still shows full charge.

Some older ones have had problems where the cells crack awayfrom the pins. This failure cost Neal Bates an ARC one year. May have been the same problem this year (do not know what battery he was using)

Neal didn't have a battery failure as such this year.

His Heat One DNF was caused by an alternator failure. He left the car running after booking into control but there was a hold up with the stage going green and it ended up draining the battery.

His car didn't start in parc ferme on Sunday morning because of lack of compression. I was told it was due to valve recession.

Good and bad stories for all.

Went to the shop today and they recommended the Odyssey. Its $420.

Other option was an Optima red that was $300 but the Odyssey has alot more CCA and kick.

Ahhh! I dunno which one to get, or to get a Deka instead.

They reckon the Odysseys dont have probs any more.

I've had an Odyssey in my daily for quite some time, was fine until it got drained flat one night and since then it was going flat every few days. Had to have it on the trickle charger every 3 days or so to keep some life in it.
Then I bought a different type of trickle charger which was recommended to me by an Odyssey retailer, apparently it does some funky shit during charging that other trickle chargers dont do that can bring the Odyssey back to life so to speak. Since I've charged it up on the new trickle charger about 3 weeks ago it hasn't needed to be re-charged once.

I think if you take the proper care of them they're fine.

              Hmm, car wont be daily.

Considering getting a cheap Century battery and seeing what happens. The battery in it now is super fucked and still starts it 9 out of 10 times so I might not need anything flash.
