Hi guys - been lurking for a while, but first post here!

If you could get over the embarrassment of driving it, dropping a Zetec into a Ford Ka is a weekends work - it bolts up to the original gearbox and everything... This swap is done a fair bit over in the UK. I've considered doing one as a cheap track-day or motorkhana car.

For Improved Production it would have to comply with the minimum weight regulations though, which negates the benefit of a potential 750kg kerb weight...

Heaps of development on Zetec engines over in the UK though, 270fwhp and 8000+ rpm is possible.

Pretty sure the KA24 came in the U13 Nissan Bluebird, so that's where the eligibility comes in.

Exept IPs anti Late model ruling means all cars made after 1986 that have an engine swap must go upto class weight.

OZ got the 200sx while Yanks Nissan 240sx with the Ka24e and DE instead of SR20DE.

Crisp you aware of a Ford KA wheelbase and suspension? It would roll like a spliff in Muhammad Alis hands on speed.

Just and update for the disbelievers.

In U2L IP a datsun 1200 coupe with turbo charged injected a12 pushrod 1169cc stock internals bar arp rod bolts broke the Winton long standing record.

There is also a suzuki swift (dave homer) up north with 1200cc turbo about to tackle the tracks for some scalps.

1:33:9154, under 2ltr record at the track*

driven by kane vereker... i have a feeling he may hold the >2ltr record as well in his rx7?

                    * was this time set on the new 050's?? a bit hard to compare it like for like to the 048 times if it was. still blindingly fast for what the car has under the bonnet but!!

Yeah, Kane has the under 3litre record with a 1:33.3896 on the 48s. Same meet as the Datto Mark Ruta smashed the over 3litre record on the 50s with a 1:30.8301.

Would love to hear more on the 1200, looks pretty cool, saw on the latest revheads (??) IPRA vid from Winton.

considering how well Kane has done in an under 2ltr car Kane could have actually gone faster if he knew the car.
he was just driving for the owner who is still tweaking the car and is sure to get more off the line in time.

The tune and manifolding has much of the work put in for impressive performance but a cheap budget
pushrod A12 1179cc with stock internals bar arp rod bolts and a different camshaft is pretty sweet.
