I think an S13 with a very well built CA18DE stroked to 2.0ltr or an SR20VE would be a good option but the reality is nothing can match a K20 powered Civic.

Well fellas S14 (sr20ve) and 1200 (A12 turbo yes! 1169cc pushrod motor with boost) rwd ahead of Hondas

BTW, that S14 is our good friend Chooie`s. Same engine he had in his old 1200 racer.
He got the under 2lts lap record with a 1.48.2. A great effort considering its only the second time he has raced the new car.

My best was a 1.49.8. Under the old record but not good enough on the weekend.

Me looking down twice in the video was turning up the boost and then turning it back down after the engine didnt sound right. I think it was blowing out the spark at the top end.

    Top speed of 228 Kmh.

Also in Honda hating NSW - How many Hondas can you see here in the Super TT MRA racing series?

Here is another awesome effort in Hillclimbing for RWD 2 oldies that many love

    Hey guys,

So as the title says I raced my little 2 door Datto 1000 sports sedan with a CA18DE under the hood in the Australian Hillclimb Championship last weekend at Mount Panorama.
Unfortunately i didn't win my class, but ended up second, and lost my class record to a monster MOTEC injected Datto 1600, never the less i had a BALL !! and i hope you enjoy my onboard footage below. cheers !!

P.S. The CA in my car is now for sale with the quad throttle body set up, engine mounts to fit straight in to a 1000, wiring and brand new MICROTECH ECU. Asking price is $5250 for the lot, and if you pay full price ill THROW IN THE GEARBOX !!
please pm me for engine specs, it is a heavily worked race engine, with many custom parts, will do over 10,000 RPM.

Here is my onboard footage, enjoy !!

Hondas do dominate, The WA one is possibly the fastest Under 2ltr IP car every, Sets lap records everywhere it goes even on tracks the drivers never been on before and even with a 3 race experience P plater. Im pro Nissan but in Unders theres only one true leader.

        sorry, forogt about this..

my question was regarding whether you can use a motor from a company that absorbed the company of the car you intend to use..

IE, could you use a fiat motor in a chrysler, an izuzu motor in a gemini, a chev in a holden etc..

actually i think i just answered my own question.. no?

Only if the engine is shared. Provided it is from an eligible car and is the same configuration. Hence 3SGEs in Geminis, 3SFE was in the Holden Apollo, heads are free.

I'd love to be able to run a 16v Lampredi in a 105, Fiat own Alfa but the only time a Lampredi was in an Alfa was the Alfa 155Q4 which isn't an eligible car.

I think you will find over time, Simon Phillips A12 powered Datto 1200 will hold lap records for unders where ever it goes, car is very early in development, and Simon has now done a total of about 4 race meetings

bring on the small capacity turbo racers! Nother 1 to look out for is David Homer`s swift GTI turbo supposedly he is redeveloping it with a destroked g13b 16v all alloy 4 cyl and doing it better this time. Im sure Hondas will follow this recipe with 11xx cc + boost if the datto 1200 or GTI break records. Hope Simon can break more records, Im very datsun biased.

                  Wasn't the 155Q4 Group A homologated?

The EG and EK Civics are post 1986 aren't they ? Therefore no boost allowed - will have to be the earlier (EF maybe ?) ones if they go that way...

A mate of mine ran a non vtec k20 in an EG recently (stock wrecker CRV engine) with standard box and did a 1.46 at EC - they are a very very good thing the Hondas...
The older i get, the better i was...

You mean B20? Early CRV's use a non VTEC 2L and later ones are all K24 VTEC.

Charade GTI in WA is fastish but a bit short lived tho I have no respect for the mechanic. Im sure with the right builder and Driver one of these would be a front runner in 2ltr

Yeah, if you say so. I know bugger all about the Hondas really so I probably fucked that up...

There are heaps of pre 1987 Hondas that could allowed eg. The 3rd Gen civics and second gen City
                              they have 94 inch wheelbases & D12B1 Donk was available 1193cc 75mm bore x 67.5mm just within
the capacity limit after multiplication factor. The D series has heaps of turbo aftermarket options
& many over 25psi for years on vitara cast slugs for 450+hp. The D series with boost is quite a force.

Still hope the datsun 1200 gets all the records as Simon is improving his driving and car.
