Are the K Lines any good? They were always such shite in the olden days..

What about the extra spark plug threads down into the chamber? You need to grind the end off your tap :D

According to the guy that just did some work for me (and he does work on a heap of drag cars including a certain nitro funny car as well so I guess he knows "something") using k-lines and new valves was the best and also cheapest way to go on a stuffed head. I'd be interested in someone else opinion as I've never had them recomended to me before.

K-lines are great if done right, shite if done wrong - it just comes down to the guy fitting them as to whether they last for ages or for 10,000k's.

Muz - it'd already had spark plug helicoils fitted, I had to fit new ones due to distortion of the holes from welding, but the thread were already tapped into the chamber.

The head bolts look like they've been stolen from a tractor!

funnily enough, that's probably the exact car that sprung to mind when I read the thread title (I used to be in the HRA, and there was a Bellet or two), also my dad was competing in the same event - first rally he's navigated in for about 5 years since he bought a business that takes up all his time.

When I was there on Saturday Tones told me that you could not get them. He has rebuilt that pump with a universal kit.

Yeah, pump rebuilt with a new universal bearing (the shafts are oversize & long, you just cut & turn them to the sizes you need) & a new seal.

                            Fantastic work mate.

Financial incentives aside, it must be really rewarding to (a) achieve something like this, (b) see the look on the owner's face when you've restored part X from the dead (c) know that you've genuinely earned your money.

Yup, well worth it - the owner dropped in this morning & the look on his face when he saw the finished motor was priceless.

Total cost for the full engine was only a tad over $4k - including cleaning, blasting & painting all the ancillaries etc.
Cost was kept down due to not actually needing many parts, mostly labour.

Awesome stuff Tk - awesome there are still blokes like you with the skill and desire to keep the old stuff alive and not letting it fade away into total obscurity - and I reckon the bloke got a freaking bargain!
