mine doesn't feel like turbo lag, it feels like driving a fly by wire commodore, nothing, nothing, nothing, heaps of torque, wheels spinningOriginally posted by Buck Nasty View PostThat's probably a little high but I'd expect it to drop down a bit after a few months. It's sitting half way between the Triton, Navara and Ranger at $50,000 and the Hilux at around $65,000.
The new Navara (with the 3lt V6 diesel) will start at $60,000 and I'd expect the new Ranger (3.2lt TT diesel) to start around that price too so it'll have two compeditors.
I'd take the new Ranger simply because of it's TT goodness, the shithouse turbo lag in the Nav makes crossing a busy road almost a death sentence!Originally posted by Turbo YodaI <3 Hamster

When I was looking mid last year they wanted $65,000 for an SR-5 which included $1800 for fitting air-con which was standard! went next door and drove off in a D40 ST-X Navara with all the fruit on it for $54,000.Originally posted by smellytofu View PostHilux around $54k you mean.Originally posted by Mr PurpleWow. No wonder Toyota don't care about cars when they can make that much profit on selling Hiluxi to miners/councils."If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough horsepower." - Mark Donahue Penske Porsche 917

Every single EURO4 / 5 diesel I have driven from VW Caddy to Large Isuzu drives in the nothing nothing nothing boost here we go fashion....to one extent or another.
Its all part of the EURO 4 regs that basically stop manufacturers from dumping a heap of diesel in the trucks / vans off idle, or sudden accelerator movements....its the reason you dont see clouds of black smoke anymore.
Get used to it or dont buy a diesel
.....or buy an AUto to mask it somewhat

The Traffic is WAY less laggy with a decent load on board, much less jumpy and smootherOriginally posted by GTREA View PostEvery single EURO4 / 5 diesel I have driven from VW Caddy to Large Isuzu drives in the nothing nothing nothing boost here we go fashion....to one extent or another.

honestly, try a TT diesel (the progressive type) and it's a completely different car, had the TTV5 Volvo in Europe and thought it was fantastic, nearly 1000km for a tank and power almost instantly, it completely changed my mind on diesels in family hacks.Originally posted by GTREA View PostEvery single EURO4 / 5 diesel I have driven from VW Caddy to Large Isuzu drives in the nothing nothing nothing boost here we go fashion....to one extent or another.

Unfortunately duel cab 4x4's are still very industrial, but I hope the new Ranger changes this and we start seeing the refined diesels like the sedan motors in them soon.Originally posted by Mr PurpleWow. Am the only one who thinks shit like DI technology which fouls The motor within 100k and DSG which adds $500 to each service is retarded and completely unnecessary Ina work vehicle?
My mates Golf GTI is nice but i would be pretty pissed with a lot of the euro eccentricities that come with it, existed in my work ute.
In fact nothing made me rage harder than owning a Mercedes Vito. Fuck them and their bullshit designers.

Yep. Considering the commercial stuff can, and often does go wayyy past the servicing schedules, these wont be fun to own after warrantyOriginally posted by TTerror View PostAm the only one who thinks shit like DI technology which fouls The motor within 100k and DSG which adds $500 to each service is retarded and completely unnecessary Ina work vehicle?

'Proper' trucks (I know you love that tag) aren't nearly as laggy.
Where I used to work, the MAN 4x2's and 6x2's up to 340hp, ran twin turbos, one small & one big... And all the bigger stuff (360hp to 540hp) was up on boost 200rpm after clutch engagement point.
My new job, with Scania, there Diesels are much the same....
Also, anything with AdBlue/SCR is basically a Euro2 engine with the exhaust aftertreatment.'10 MK6 GTI DSG
