....so is an SR5 extra cab. I just cant see them pulling sales away from hilux buyers unless it's _that_ much better, or competitively priced . Remember it's blue collar guys mainly buying these things, not white collar golf gti fans like most on this forum would be.

Pretty sure the Hilux has a smaller back seat then Navara and Triton, actually very sure since my BIL had a current Hilux and we looked at a Triton.

VW knows what they are doing, they owned the class in Europe in the late 1980s-early 1990s with the Taro. Granted it was Hilux but VW learned shit loads from the experience.
I'm very interested in what it's like, wife is still wanting a Triton but admits this looks better.

I think it's a fairly safe bet that this will at the very least equal the hilux and navara, if not thoroughly outclass them. Their vans are that damn good and they aren't even expensive.

          Lol.

Saw one of these in Europe years ago. Was second only to the donkey with taxi signs on it in Santorini for LOLs.

The engine is a twin turbo diesel. 120kw/400Nm. No petrol engines to start with. Though one with the 3.6L V6 out of the Passat R36 might be fun

Saw fuck loads of Taros in Noumea, only a couple of Hiluxs though. Seems like every old ute was a Taro and every new ute was a Triton, with the odd Navara thrown in for good measure.

120kW/400Nm is pretty fucken impressive out of two litres

It's not doing anything for me looks-wise, but on the other hand it's no more or less boring/ugly than any other dual cab.

(Triton excluded, which I quite like).

Exactly what I was thinking. I reckon it would be peaky though and probably a total slug off boost down near idle.

I don't give a fuck about fuel prices (as it's a work car), I'll be doing very high k's in it (50,000 so far this year), and it'll be carrying very little if anything most of the time, with a trailer full of shit once in a blue moon. Out of the diesels and petrols I've used, just much prefered the petrols, the 4ltr's just perr'd along.

A mate and me walked around the Auto Expo and sat in all of them (Triton, Navara, Hilux, Rodeo/Colarado, BT50 and Ranger (same car)), and the only one that had leg room (not plenty of leg room, but leg room) was the Hilux, actually I think you're right, the Triton did have a good back seat, but fuck it's ugly!!

Twin turbo would suggest it wont be...

My Crafter is a 2.5 5cyl single turbo diesel with 120kw and 400nm's, same as they use in some Toerags.

Sure it's not this motor there using?

(The Crafters sister van the Mercedes Sprinters run 4cyl twin turbos)

My Transporter 128kW 2.5 5cyl 400nm. I noticed on paper the Crafter had lesser power but probably last longer.

sr20trx - Took your advice on board, on these vans when buying mine, so thanks. Really is a good van.

If they want to open up a whole new market just put a decent interior in it with all the gadgets you get in the luxo wagons & customers will fall from the sky.

I keep looking at dual cab utes because they make a lot of sense for me. I dont really drive around town & Im used to the landcruiser anyway so the size doesnt bother me. I want to carry stuff that is often dirty (mtbs, dog etc) but be fucked if I want a low rent cabin, with shitfull plastic, a crap stereo, shit cloth seats and all the fucking noise you get in a hilux/navara/triton.

If they do a leather lined luxo version with all the bells & whistles for $60k ish then I'll be wanting one. If not I guess I'll be going with another wagon.
