$20 per year? Meh - I've spent more each month on replacement keyboards
I'll say one thing too, it's one of the few places I'd happily give mods/people money in a brown paper bag (so to speak) and know it'd be put toward what they said. No doubt at all.
Bit of a contrast to some upstart online magazine that takes one's subscription based on a known scope of internet experience/attributes/features, then fucks off the forums because (imho) they shat all over many of the articles. Then they start badmouthing forums, whilst posting semi-retarded questions in aus.cars on usenet, so they can unfuck their articles before publication. Hangon, what were we talking about?
How about another option - without going 'nuts' about it - could we maybe use just a tiny portion of any surplus to purchase some small car related 'doodad' that could be given to one of the contributors at xmas time with a random draw or something. Wouldn't have to be much - just something corny - I dunno, how about '21st century performance' or something
I'd favour anonymous donation - but still have amounts. That way someone might see an anonymous donation of say $50 and think - fuck it i'll do it, but if they knew who did it, they might think, 'yes that rich kid on a trust fund, fuck him, i'll put in 0' - or god knows what.
I'm absolutely against any special forums or priveleges for donators (even if I hypothetically were to be a donator). That might mean it deters a few people from signing up. I mean seriously - would we all be as fulfilled had we never met BensonItaliano? and he took every bit of smartarsing on the chin without flinching too, I recall...
One of the things that really endears me to this place is the way the 'wolfpack' goes after dickheads. It's the internet equivalent of 'cops' or something.John McKenzie
