Showed this to my workmate yesterday who is a Toyota tragic, he said it's been for sale for ages. Used to be on there for something like 15k. It's getting cheap now!

Seems like good buying to me; it's just a turbo away from being a fun car. But I imagine broken AWD bits would be hard to replace.

thing is - with a turbo they still aren't that fast until you throw bulk cash at them - be nice to see some underneath photos to see if a 2j conversion would even be feasible..

I reckon you'd also need to throw bulk cash at the transmission to make it survive 4L turbo + AWD traction. It would be a cool thing if someone did it but realistically it would be too expensive for anyone with a brain to bother, and too difficult for anyone without a brain to achieve.

There is a reason why they are low production vehicles, well at least two.

Aside from the hideous looks brought about by the installing of a full height grill, rather than cutting it down to a sensible height, that throws the bonnet line out, IIRC Rolls Royce were not very happy with Creative Cras who made these abominations and instigated legal action to cease and desist which was I believe was successful, thankfully.

300+ rwkw on a turbo UZ is piss easy....depends what you consider bulk cash I guess. The A340 will live at those levels and the transfer case on these is every bit as strong as a GTR. A good thing if you could keep the budget under control but too much fuckery for most I’d agree.

was your spidey sense tingling? - just saying that on a 2J an off the shelf single turbo kit & e85/ecu/intercooler is usually cheaper than plenums and the less worn path.

a quick google tells me that the trans is an A341F - but there is also an A340F used in prado's etc... but not sure if there's a 'constant' awd version of the transfer..

Did someone say turbo uz ? Lol....I totally agree, a 2J is easier and having had one for a bit it was a stout and surprisingly good thing.

i have two of these gearbox, transfer cases in my parts stock it’s an A340 and as robust as those things are. The transfer case looks unbreakable and the front diff looks strong enough. The on,y bit I’d be suss on is the driveshaft to the front diff but it’s no smaller than anything else I’ve seen? Needs a fuse somewhere? One day I’ll throw it in something
