That price is ridiculous for a rolling shell.
Motor and box included. It's a much better starting point than some of the other "GT" Falcons on the market. Someone will put it back together. Still, stupid money for an old Falcon.

Yep definitely a better starting point that most "barn finds" that go these auction houses.

The engine is only good if its the original it rolled out of the factory with, some of the photos indicate that the previous use it may not be, or it is could be beyond repair and that is why it's not in the engine bay.

A good mate has a XB GT 4 speed coupe. The thing is well past it when I was working on it and told him he's on his own. He would regularly get knocks on the door offering $15k for what is a rusted beyond repair shell. Scary thing is the car was never in view from the front of the house or neighbours yards.

There's pics going around of that white Gtho in its heyday and I doubt it even had the original engine back then (1980s)

Edit: sorry just realised the original pics are in the auction listing.

Oh story is the car was smashed up by his ex Mrs which explains the dents and broken lights and glass.

Not neccessarily. Most people who would be paying say $400K for GTHO would be doing a lot of careful checking to make sure it's a ridgy didge one and not a rebirth.
Say you got it for $300K, spend another $150K getting it to concourse condition, you still should be able to flip it for a tidy tax-free profit. Don't have to pay solicitor fees, stamp duty and the like as you would if it was a house. Market woulkd be pretty small though for cashed up folk willing to spend $600-700-800K on a 1971 Falcon. Wouldn't be too many banks I expect willing to loan that sort of money for an old Falcon.
I remember 20 years ago when I was trying to sell my replica/knock-off XYGT for $20K I had plenty of people wanted it but couldn't get finance as the value was only around $1500 according to the bank. Maybe things have changed and places like Shannons can point people in th right direction of a financial institution that would lend that sort of money.

Apparently experts will know what real gt bodyshell will have different to rebirthed shell...heaps of cunts been caught out so nowadays they'll repair even the most fucked up cars if possible.

Seen on torrie forum peeps have bought tubbed cars with drag history,v8 conversions etc then returned then back to stock.
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.

You have to wonder with some people. 35000kms and 18 months from basically new without a service.

where does it say that? Says it has a service history.

That's probably when the car told them to get it serviced.
BMW's condition based service intervals can be stupidly long.

Not ~36000 kms long ever on for an oil change on a modern one. There's also a time/date on them since about the mid 2000s i.e. the generation before that. That can be long also. It would have have come up every time with a red overdue light because of the mileage for sure.

Possibly it was just not stamped in the book too. Since that first one, it's pretty good but you have to pay close attention as some of those services may only be brake fluid changes or vehicle inspections and no oil change.

Was it that era BMW that had the whole "Service interval by when the car decides it needs it" thing?
