W109 = LWB W108
W109 came with 3.0L straight six as base engine (hence 300SEL), but also had 3.5L and 6.3L V8 options. They were still known as 300SELs though.
(Dad had a W112 300SE which he GAVE away when he cracked the shits with it a few years ago. Still can't get over that...)
3.5L was used in W108/109 and W116 series sedans (350SE, 350SEL)
