^^ Brings back memories, my grandfather (may he RIP) had a HD from new as his work car (he was a carpenter/shopfitter). He drove it until it died. Can't be too many people who own a car from new until it basically rusts back into the earth. Would have been well over 30 years that he had it.

Been through 2 80s rwd rally cross specials, one for each of the last two seasons. 300 top dollar budget and costs split 3 ways = cheap racing! You're right though rust man, hard to find now. So I won't tell you when we find the next one!
How you get that Cobra regod as 72 don't make sense to me either, but the car makes all the sense in the world!

I thought this was pretty cool. Not usual that you get something like this in victoria all engineered and with a roadworthy. If I hadnt just bought a ute a couple of weeks ago I would have got this for sure. Pretty bummed that I only just came across it.

On a side note, how the hell does that get registered as a 1972 Cobra, when the first kit wasn't made until 1979 (presumably in the States) and Python Australia have only been around since the late 90's?

George Vidovic ( python Cobra) has been making these since 1981, started out in a shed in Chapel St Sth Yarra, then went to a small shopfront in Glenhuntly rd Elsternwick, from there i dont know. He gets them done as 1972 due to the original compliancing he managed to btain from VicRoads
Vidovic has been known to race his products.
I used to navigate for a bloke that worked for George, we prepared a rally 1600 Dato at the Chapel St workshop, testing was fun on the tramlines.
That workshop got redeveloped and became The Jam Factory ( old IXL jam and conserve canning place)
Robnell, Robert Darnell has/had similar, but unsure as he changed his chassis design.
