I've had this tab open for a week, so much want but no room for it

I expect its probably not as nice as my white one was, and I'm pretty sure its interior wouldn't be anywhere near as good, because that one was mint inside, but a manual 2000 would be sooooo much better than the borg warner auto was. I think I might even still have the slammed springs around the place somewhere, just need some 13 or 14x7 80's Jap wheels

A parent at school has a 2004 BMW X3 they are going to trade in on a new car. They have been offered $5,000. I told him I will buy it for $5k, so might go check it out. He said it has an oil leak. Then just now he tells me his mechanic thinks it may need new rings. It has 145,000 km's on it. I don't mind spending a few hundred, but not going to pull the motor. They sell for $10-$15k normally. Seen one for $25k. Anyone know anything about these?

They've never really been on my radar but I've done a couple of Adelaide to Winton road trips in various PIs are really enjoyed it. I'd definitely have a GT6 if one fell in my lap.

6 cyl petrol yeah? I think it's very uncommon for them to do rings. What the symptom? If just oil consumption, the crankcase vent setup is a common cause on the M54.

                              It's a credit to him.

I will own one. If I wasn't up to my eyes in babies and houses I'd seriously consider it. I need to slow down and do it I think.

Yep, 2.5 petrol. I might grab it, and take it to my mechanic. I thought that at 145k, and driven by conservative people that had it serviced regularly, it would unlikely to be rings.
Don't know the problems/symptoms. He isn't a car person. Might be a good idea to talk to his mechanic too.
