Can I ask the main question?

Why did you want to keep the standard studs and nuts so badly?

Truly- this is hard for most of us to grasp? Why does it matter so much?

i guess toyota should of known not to add that small torx section on the end of the studs so guys fitting tubular manifolds 15 years later wouldnt have to cry about cutting them back.

not so sure why theres been such a big fuss over the studs/nuts.

1- I wanted to use stock as id already bought them.
2 - They look far better than the others that were supplied.
3- Havent tried it but im sure unflanged/washered nuts would put extra pressure on the HPC coating. And since its a very brittle ceramic coating id imagine it would crack far easier with other nuts.


the studs/nuts were one small problem, along with the turbo flange orientation, and kyles attitude.

I cant post in the SF thread thanks to some fuckheads, but I wanted to ask about the turbo flange orientation. Your talking about the turbo outlet pointing too close to the strut power right? Cant the compressor housing just be rotated where ever you like?

These stock studs must be pretty fucking hot. Pics of them and the ugly ones supplied?

I thought id go out and take some pics of my manifold. 6Boost, with GT35r. So far so good, after about a year (But only running 8psi).

ive got it rotated to the best possible position at the moment, which is shitty direction.

supplied studs and nuts were just generic gold repco nuts and studs.


MR Punnany: Ur studs arnt stock, the nuts possible are, the washers arnt?

Funny how they fit on your but they dont on mine. Those look stock yet on mine they hit on the welds and prevent tightening........
