otherwise i'm not sure why an ss seems to sell for more then a calais when they are generally more poorly optioned?

of course no manual gearbox available in a calais however, only plus i can see for a ss model.

just go to car sales, advanced search, select min year 2002, max 25k, manual, 8 cylinder etc and you will easily pull up what you are after.
Old man's SSZ was manual, had climate control, leather, bluetooth, power everything, 18" Monaro wheels (and tricked suspension?)...ummm...yeah, pretty much all the bells and whistles at the time. Not sure how many were options though.

Someone once asked me if they could use my mower. I said "sure, so long as it doesn't leave my yard"

if 2 doors is ok, monaro will be the best resale by a long long way.

Be careful with CV8s They're all different. Minor changes every year.

Length, width, brakes, power, headlights, tail lights, colour options, interior colours, sunroof, options and of course VX/VY/VZ interior all change. The biggest body change being between the VY/VZ and the shift from CV8R to the CV8Z. Only the VZ coupe has the LS2 and expect to pay for it. Cheapest one I saw was $45k most were asking $55K+. Saw one converted VX CV8 with an LS2, SRII VZ SS front guards (have the open ducts behind the wheel) and VZ CV8 bonnet with scoops. Looks as patched together as it sounds.

Just picked up a 01 Caprice for $8,500 200k, 12 mths rego. Not expecting resale to be anything fancy later on, but for the features, its worth it...

I'll be getting back into an Ls1 sedan (had a VY ute before) at the end of the year when I sell the Navara, be looking around the $20k mark so something like fatboys would be the go

Could your budget stretch to an early VE? A quick Carsales search shows there's a reasonable selection of them between $25-30k in a manual. IMHO it'd be well worth the few grand extra over a VZ, "rare" (ha!) 6.0 litre version or otherwise.

Monaros have come down a lot in price. Seen them go for about 21k for auto shitters. The leather turns to shit really quick unless you treat them.

Seen them below 20k if ya want a V6
