Well no not reallyOriginally posted by Bill Surewood View Post
Stock turbos, cooler, zorst, safc, pump = 280-320ish rwhp - depends how healthy turbos are how much fuel wind out of it etc.
To go 400 you need either uprated singles which are hard to find, or a manifold, turbos, injectors, ecu, custom piping and dump plus tuning.

It makes you even less cool than you were to begin with. Sorry about that.Originally posted by gianttomato View PostI have an unopened 3.0 24v I6 in a Corona Mk2 with 48mm ITBs. Sounds porn, and was good enough for a 13.8 quarter and a 1:10 around Calder. Norbie's been in it. Does that make me cool or uncool?
Incidentally I'm sure I suffered permanent hearing damage after that blat around the suburbs of Melbourne.
Nope, a V12 Century is unique and interesting, in large part because of the Jap V12 under the bonnet. No matter how much you like Mercs you can't say the same about a 190E or its powerplant.Originally posted by edo View PostDid you sell the century?
I reckon putting the 1j in Claytons merc is like putting an LS? in the century...
Incidentally if I really did want to turn a Century into a cheap and cheerful track weapon an LSx would be pretty high on my list of engine conversion options. In terms of bang for your buck it would shit all over anything I could do with a 1GZ. These are the sort of things you have to consider when the budget is tight.Norbie!

"Unique and interesting"? Do you have a Daimler Double Six too? Or any of those big Mercs from the '70s? How is a Century any more "unique and interesting" than them? Apart from the fact it was styled in the middle of a blackout by retarded monkeys and has a clunky old V12 that really isn't any good, that is.

Are we talking about the same car here? The current Century and its all-alloy VVTi V12 engine was released in 1997, hardly "old and clunky". As for unique, how many Jap V12's have ever been built? Oh yeah, just that one.
Back on topic, I reckon 2JZ is the way to go, especially if a manual transmission has already been lined up (which I think it has). As mentioned earlier Aristo front cuts are pretty cheap and they already come with the correct sump. A reliable 300rwhp with arseloads of torque is as simple as an exhaust, intercooler and bleed valve. BTDT!Norbie!

If the 190E is such an evil under-steerer, what is the extra weight of a 1/2J going to do to that?
I meant the older ones, like that purple "VIP" convertible on here.Originally posted by Norbie View PostAre we talking about the same car here? And if those are the criteria for desirable cars, I guess we better start saving Mazda Roadpacers, FWD Ferrari V8-powered Lancia Themas and the BMW 850CSi, too. Doesn't matter that they're all shitboxes, they're rare and interesting! This is how those Morris clubs got started and covered half of the over-50 car enthusiast population in tweed FFS.
A clean, tidy 190E is as interesting as a clean, tidy E30 BMW, is as interesting as a clean, tidy Toyota Century, which is less interesting than a new stock base-model 911 to most people.
