If this event isn't the number darwin award for 2010, then I can't imagine something topping this. Maybe bin laden slipping the shower, setting off a bomb that kills everyone in that fucken cave the yanks can't find him in.

In regards to the FB stuff, I can't understand why they'd want to grieve in public. If I was related to or even knew those people I'd be keeping it very quiet.

Just looking at the comments below the article it seems that the 'silent majority' are out in force supporting the author and that's good to see.

For a moment there I had a vision of bogan Aussie culture (and UK) following the NWA Fuck da poilce/South central/gangsta bullshit that was basically worshipped by normal kids back in the late 80s and early 90s, using it as a template to form their own version of a 'struggle' where every day was a mission to survive. This is Australia though with welfare and lenient courts and PC fuckwits, and I don't think any of the dickheads mentioned in these articles were born when the NWA stuff was around... :knock:

On the issue of police corruption - of course it would happen. In _any_ job/workplace, there's always going to be an employee or two that are complete cunts, and so law of averages dictates that the force is no exception. One would then have to consider _where_ the corruption might occur. Frankly it's probably least likely to be highway patrol or uniformed officers in general on the streets, because there just wouldn't be a big opportunity to do so. On the other hand, look into (hypothetically) major crime or more specifically drug squad. They'll be exposed, almost daily to a bunch of lowlifes, and see cunts doing fuck all real work and having fat stacks of cash lying around. That would (imo) where temptation might get the better of _some_. But police chases? Far less likely a scenario that nurtures corruption.

On the issue of why fucktards rally around supporting and singing Sir Mully's praises - simple premise. Imagine you are a low life good for nothing shit for brains. Imagine you do nothing else but bludge off society. Do you try and lift yourself up - nope that would take effort, much better to surround yourselves with likeminded turds, and 'redefine' morality to the point it is unrecognisable by any decent human being. Yep 'mully' was a top bloke, because if he wasn't, then they too would have to confront their own complete lack of redeeming qualities. And for fear of being expelled from the herd, they'll NEVER have any expectations of decency or anything else from their fellow detritus.

Consider the wildly hypothetical situation of having technology to be able to go back in time and show all relative footage/converage/info about this incident and others like it and their friends responses to a bunch of Aussie blokes, and their families back home, about to land in a place now known as Anzac Cove. How could we face them, seeing what they've done, or are about to do, to show them how far we've sunken as a people. 'Thanks digger, for being part of an all volunteer commitment to WW1 (as Aussies were), for paying the ultimate sacrifice, so that pieces of shit can steal cars, kill people and their families put blame on the police'

On the other hand, a good number of people choose to have less friends, but to restrict such friendship to those who share a sense of right and wrong, and act reasonably and fairly, and they'd not stand idly by if their friends did something wrong. I'm not suggestion we should walk around with some sort of religious fervour and preach and judge all and sundry ad nausaeum, actually here is a real world example, which happened a good 20 years ago. Of course it never happened, because it would potentially be interpretted as 'police corruption'

A mate of mine (who had had the odd accident or two) was driving to work and hit another car in the middle of a roundabout. Nobody was hurt, it wasn't a huge bingle by any means, but my mate, 18 at the time, shit his pants and pissed off (he actually recognised the other driver as a co-worker too, which probably didn't help him! Anyhoo, i was working nights at the time, it happened in the morning, and so he shit himself, and drove straight to my place, in quite a panic.

The only advice I could give him, and I ended up driving him there, aside from all else, he was too shaken up to drive any further that day, was to go straight to the local police station, tell them the truth, that he panicked, and came to his senses, so here he was, presenting himself, and admitting fault in the accident. Probably a combination of his (slightly delayed) taking responsibility for the prang - both identifying himself to the police and indicating he caused the crash - the officer he spoke to was pretty bloody nice about it. In the end the statement read (and of course, this didn't happen) with a little bit of thought put into it that he had the smash, in the middle of a roundabout, and it wasn't safe to stop, so he continued around and took the first available exit road, pulling over as soon as safe, still in plain sight of the roundabout. At that stage, he had lost sight of the other car. He wasn't sure if they just drove away because the damage wasn't massive, or what, but with no way of sharing details, put his car at home, and got a lift to the station to make a statement, so that it could be followed up via insurance or whatever.

That's a pretty decent act on the part of the police officer, and he could easily have shunted things (pardon the pun) in a whole different direction. Of course the fuckheads that are mully's mates would go on endlessly about what cunts the police are, feeling it's ok to steal cars, drive unlicenced, drive recklessly and kill others.... Yeah, it's the police's fault.

For what it's worth I'll bet a HELL OF A LOT of pursuits are called off WELL before the crash. What some people seem to be forgetting is the mindset of the cunt fleeing from justice. Does ANYONE here think that if the police ceased pursuing that the driver of the stolen car would hit the brakes and just drive on at the speed limit? Of course not, likely as not he'd drive on in the reckless manner till he could dump or hide the car and or himself, which could be 20 minutes potentially (perhaps more likely to be less time, but 20 minutes is in no way a wildly overestimated period)0. And since the chase is called off (as has been noted here and on aus.cars that I know of) - there's no longer the wail of sirens alerting the public, nope, the first they know of this lunatic is when he comes ploughing into them. In which case, maybe calling off a pursuit at _all_ is potentially more dangerous, and the sooner they can get them stopped, by whatever means, is statistically less risk to innocent lives being lost.

Last of all - I'm no angel, I've done some exceptionally stupid things, esp when I was younger. For whatever it's worth, I tended to do the dumb things at times and places that put nobody else at risk (read into that what you will). My friends and I occasionally attracted the attention of the boys in blue. We all had the attitude at the time, and I'm fucked if I know how this disappeared in a single generation (it was mostly lost when I was a teen) - but we had the attitude of 'win it or wear it'. You get caught doing something stupid, and the police give a bit of a tune up, frankly, you took the risk, you pay the consequences. These days, esp in Victoria (and esp after the reign of Christine 'which decent officer can I fuck over as a scape goat in furthering my political career, and come up smelling of roses' Nixon) - if police did anything remotely like that, they'd be hosed over and cast out. I'm not saying we want a situation where people are being snatched off the street in some sort of Sth American oppressive regime of days gone by, but fuck me, criminals shouldn't be able to get around as a protected species and given 100fold consideration than is shown to their victims.

Andrew Bolt's usually utterly full of shit, yet the story is remarkably sensible (except for blaming courts/police when they're simply following/applying the law) for him.

In an ideal world, ACA would do a hatchet job on the mum ... but they're in orbit around the planet illiterate-douchebag.

I came across a suburban cop chase when I was about 18yo. Before I saw the car (as I sat at a T intersection opposite a school) I heard a siren from the cop cars, so I sat there for a sec listening. Then the thief flew past at 100 odd in a school zone in a fucked up VN, followed closely by the cops.
If the cops had called the chase off prior to the school zone, I wouldn't have heard the sirens and may have pulled out in front of him, not expecting a car to be doing 100 clicks in a 40 zone.
