After looking at the engine bay pic it looks like it would be a good candidate for EFI, injectors and sensors would be pretty easy to hide so it could even remain original in appearance, to the untrained eye I suppose. Not like the inlet manifold needs changing but you would probably think twice about drilling injector holes and welding bosses into such a rare piece. What about fuel pumps? somehow I don't think two 044s buzzing their heads off are really in character with the car.

Your crazy to mess with it, thats half the character of old cars living with their percurilaritys and little little hickups.

Converting it to efi will easily outstrip what maintaining the original system would plus you will feel the shame and scorn from purists and the car will be branded the work of satan..

Also ask yourself.. How old is the car and how many years has it been safely running the old mech system?

...then you went to efi. I'm on the efi while preserving the origion shit somewhere boat.

The purists already hate him for

            1) Driving it
            2) Doing burnouts in it
            3) cutting the exhaust off

I don't think he cares what they think.

Not to be rude, but you have no clue about this car whatsoever. Jump on google and do some research. These models (300SEL 6.3) are NOTORIOUS for being one of the most expensive cars in the world to maintain and repair if the engine decides to shit itself. I have a massive wad (two folders worth to be exact) of the money spent on the car in the last 8 years alone and the amount is truly terrifying. This doesnt include EVERY single service (as listed in the service record book) by all the previous owners from the date of its first sale. If you know anything about older european cars, especially those with mechanical injection you'd know they dont just run forever with zero maintainence. You have to constantly keep them in top running order, not a hard or expensive task with common shit, fucking nightmare with something like this. This is something I am considering purely to keep the wonderful donk doing its thing for years to come and to keep me from having to mortgage my house to repair it should something go bang due to poor tuning. This is not the sort of car I about to "learn" mechanical injection tweaking with.

I dont give a flying fuck what the purists and puritans think, this is my pride and joy and all I want to do is drive it and enjoy it without having to worry about ruining a masterpiece. I posed the question to those on here that obviously have experience with old/rare stuff and am interested to hear what they have to say.

Spot on. Mercedes didnt call this car the bankers hotrod for nothing. Its got a tradition to uphold. And for the record, Al cut the original exhaust off, not me :p Its got a proper set on it now, sounds well good

It is Kugelfischer (why do I feel like a beer now?) rather than K-Jetronic, is it?
'Cos that makes a difference to wot I said; K-Jet is complex compared to EFI (not compared to a carby, at least K-Jet makes sense mechanically/electronically whereas carburetters require shamans with boxes of mitichlorians in various sizes to properly work on them), but it's pretty simple overall. But NFI regarding Kugelfischer (except, of course, that it sounds like beer).
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Can you flip the dizzy cap off and take a pic of the internals?

A set of LS1 injectors, some fuel rails, a crank sensor of some description(dissy type dependant), an E420C, VN map sensor and IAT, tps on the original throttle body.

My recollection(albeit hazy) was - Dennis(slurring)"let's cut this muffler off"
                  Phil - "errr, ok"
                  Me - "sure thing"(thumbs up).

It already has a German buzzpump.

                    044 would be fine.
Magnafuel 1500hp job with 4l surge tank would be better for when TK does the heads, the forgies are dropped in and the GT47 is bolted on.

                        Ls2? + tune + cam?

put the original engine in the shed wrapped in gladwrap... that way when you break the engine and trans, you can put the originals back in and sell it pretending the car belonged all along to your grandfather randolph himler?

Or we do another PF whiparound and buy Sketchypimp one of those Brabus bi-turbo V12s. Around 500kW and 1200Nm. Berko car needs a berko engine.
