i reckon put efi on it. you will be able to make it work beautifully. and tuning wouldn't involve midnight rituals and cloaks and stuff.

I too have thought that about many a car in my time. Situations and priorities change, there is every chance you'll find a reason to sell it within 5 or 10 years. In my opinion it would be mad to not consider it's future value and desirability to someone else. BTW if you want to keep it for 20 years, I'd stop doing fucking skids in it.

I have spoken to Russell a number of times on the phone and he's mad about these old things. He owned the motor in my 356 for 30 years. He told me he turned it over by hand almost daily. What a nutter! My car will most certainly be going there soon for a quick check over.

When it comes to the fuel distributor block on the K-Jetronic , even the experts send em down to a mob in Melbourne from memory. It's simple enough to replace the o-rings that leak it's just a fucking cunt to tune them again. One fix that sometimes works is some ATF in the fuel tank for a bit. Can't remember the exact details but I tend to think it was a decent amount. The bloke who told us that one is Perry Penfold , he's fucking magic on these things, top mechanic but even he sends the fuel distribution block out if the o-rings are done.

To the OP you know about Peter Herscheid (spelling is probably wrong) at Salt Ash, NSW , he has heaps of wrecks/parts for mercedes. He buys em up at Auctions both writeoffs and working , and buys them overseas and imports them.

        IMHO keep it original.
