what percentage was left in your old tank Justen?

Ive got about 60L sitting in mine, been there since November, ... i think i'll drain it just to be safe with the new motor

Is eflex still in summer blend? I'm finding mine staking a crank or two more to start in the Cold mornings now. So probably still "85%" everyone at the servo has no clue about it, I had a Indian attendant tell me I couldn't fill my car up with it too

I had a older lady at my local shut the pump down on me as i was mid fill thinking I wasnt allowed to fill my car with it

I've never had anyone shut down the pump or even question me putting E85 into my car down at Kambah, pretty funny really. Probably want to see one less Volvo on the roads.

Yeah, I reckon I may have difficulty when filling up my 1970 grandpamobile.

Brasher - look at Dale & Broomy's posts above. They are alluding that the summer/winter mix thing is a fallacy.

It had around 20-30 litres in the tank and i topped it up with another 20.

Maybe drain it and blend it in with future fills once the new motor is run in?

Been running it for at least 2 years from the pump at Rozelle in Sydney. No signs of anything undue. A friend contacted United and asked about their seasonal differences in relation to variances in ethanol % and he was told they run 85% year round. I'm less than convinced by this reply though. However with the new motor we are going to run one of these and tune accordingly.
I can't see why the values can't be plugged into the ECU and deliver a dynamic map based on %...but this might mean doing a bunch of maps with varying % and loading them.

Tested at Caltex Hamilton, Newcastle a few days ago, last few have been mid/low 70's, now up to low/mid 80's.

Ok so I bought one of these Holley 4150 750DP HP carbs but am interested in knowing what I might have to do to mod it for E85, obviously there would be a jet and power valve increase, I already have a 140GPH pump that is suitable for Ethanol

I emailed these blokes to see if they do a kit but they haven't replied yet.

I wouldnt bother with a kit because it doesnt seem like theres anything "magical" about whats provided other than "bigger holes"

If your carb is non adjustable in the metering blocks (probably the case, otherwise no one would buy the overpriced ultra) youll have some work to do.

if you just want it to run on e85 then just dump more fuel in, if you want it to run well, then tweaks are in order.

has anyone stripped down an engine thats had a decent amount of E85 through it?

Id be interested to know what the insides are like.

Yea this is what this sheet says from here http://www.holley.net.au/pdfs/(2006-...treet%20hp.pdf

The Street HP features the contoured main
body from the 4150 HP and adds a tumble
polishing for a shiny finish. The metering
system includes a timed spark port and is
calibrated for a hot street/strip engine setup for
                          outstanding throttle response and driveability.
A street HP base plate is used so there are
plenty of vacuum ports for power brakes, PCV,
                          etc.
                          Other features include mechanical secondaries
for optimum street use, fourth generation
power valve design, power valve blow-out
                          protection, non-stick gaskets, adjustable air
bleeds, two corner idle system, Ford kick-down
                          and down-leg boosters.

pull it apart and make sure everything is where it should be, mine had the vent baffle installed on the wrong end lol.

Im not a fan of the HP out of the box, mine needed a bunch of work and I know of at least 3 others that werent great with the holley calibration, you may not have any problems and id like to hope that holley have "fixed" any issues from earlier versions of the street HP

Do yourself a favour though and drill/tap the metering blocks, especially if you intend on using e85.

I had an e85 tune done on my supercharged Lotus on the weekend. It's got a 5th injector installed pre charger / chargecooler to try and cool the charge even further. I was told that having this 5th injector spraying e85 all the time will put green slimey stuff all over my intake, supercharger, chargecooler etc (requires increased maintenance with cleaning etc) so I need to minimise the use of e85 to track days only where detonation resistance is more important. When not on e85 this 5th injector sprays 98. Apparently 98 going through all the same stuff isn't such an issue.

All this talk of cheap power got me excited to go down this path but all I ended up with was a 20hp increase compared to the tune on 98 (382hp vs 362hp).

Does this sound right or am I missing fasts?

not to sure on S/C methods, but with turbo there are very decent gains to be made. I only made 8-9rwkw in N/A.
