Yeah, the good thing about this shirt is the button up cuffs - they fit tight enough that they slip inside the gauntlets nice and easy so you don't get spatter runnning down inside the sleeve - have had that happen when I've forgotten to button up... It's fairly hard to set this shirt on fire - spatter eats through it so you find out about it quicksmart if it's going to be sitting somewhere long enough to get it lit, otherwise it just drops through and chars a little hole.

"The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

I usually chuck on an old pair of overalls.. they are oversized and not really painful to do.. if im doin more than just a couple of quick zaps.. otherwise uggies and trackies and a flannie.

the hoods are great when you are in close and getting bits bouncing off stuff, or being out of position.
This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...

I've got an old cotton long sleeve shirt which I use for welding, I think it has more holes than shirt now but it still seems to do the job.

It doesn't stop spatter burns, but it does stop the sunburn...

Just picked myself up one of these bad boys....

Gasweld wanted $399, but over the phone dropped it to $370, so when i rocked up to purchase i pulled the ace out my sleeve and showed him the same helmet advertised elsewhere for $315 :D

So yeah pretty happy viewing area for welding is good sized, but pop the front up for double eye protection when grinding and the viewing area is massive, also comes with 2 years warrenty as well.
I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me...

Your better off spending your cash on parts for your car, Don't get me wrong the autodarkening electric helmets are good, and also give gumby welders a good chance at aiming the tig or mig in the right spot, but they chew batteries, and even die over time, Mates at work would buy even the most expensive ones and they broke them with frequent use. I just find the good old swing down style helmet unbeatable for value and use, batteries won't fail and give you welding flash, You won't car half as much if you step on it or burn the lens or anything like that. For a non-frequent welder they are the hotness.
+eleventy fuckin billion, even for everyday use give me an elcheapo hiderok helmet..

I strongly suspect the SnapOn effect also applies to welding gear ie. the higher the price of the kit, the lower the ability of the owner..

If there was a cheaper option to this helmet i would buy it, but in our workplace we have pretty strict OH&S policies that require double eye protection (glasses and a clear visor/welding helmet), and im a big fan of auto changing helmets, so this made sense to me, as opposed to pulling my old helmet apart every time i had to switch from grinding to welding and vise versa.
