Long time lurker, first time driving a Porsche today.
What better way to pop my cherry than a 1996 993 Twin Turbo AWD. Owner claims it has 452hp.
Drove amazing (as expected) and plenty behaved and drive able as an everyday car.
Noticed when the car was on the hoist, one of the turbo waste gate vac lines had popped off the waste gate, pointed it out and reconnected it. Guy was appreciative enough but said he hadn't noticed it driving any different... :w:
Imported from NZ as a personal import. Owner has had it 7 years. Did a price check on one - holy fuck, cheapest starts at $154,000 (aus delivered) on car sales. His would obviously be worth fuck all because its an import.
Old gent told me "they are bulletproof, I've never had any problems with it, one time in NZ, I was driving and the engine light came on, I rang my mechanic, he said these things are bullet proof and they have no issues and told me to disconnect the battery and reconnect it, I did that and have had no problems since."
Ok mate.
Was in good nick and would be a great base to start with an address a few little issues with and give it a general tidy up.
Any way he has a 2001 996 (?) and has/had a 930 that was dangerous. Cool guy, mentioned his girlfriends like driving in it.

if it helps.. it's a 930 engine in a narrobody car with intercoolers mounted to allow the ducktail to fit.
it is/was(?) for sale for 60k usd
just so santa gets the details right
