I think a lot of the GT3 craziness has been fueled by the 991 not having a) Mezger and b) manual. That created a demand for "old school" in Europe which has lead to a ripple effect here, partly because UK dealers are snapping up the Aussie cars and shipping them back. Also people see value in watercooled cars because anything aircooled is already worth a million bucks for a few rusty panels and flat tyres.

Like I said to spiller a little while back (I think?) all those Sydney real estate profits have to be spent somewhere. :p
But it's happening across the board. Exotic car sales both new and used have hit record numbers recently here. And what I've stressed for a long while - seemingly run of the mill cars can and most likely will appreciate. You have to think long-term.
You just cannot forget there isn't an endless supply. And once that supply ceases, once you cannot buy one, they represent something never to be repeated.
Like in 2050, there will never ever be another 1994 VR V6 Commodore. I'm exaggerating, yeah. But you get the point. It's exacerbated with Porsches because "Oh they're all same-same. Argh they never change them. Sigh, a new Porsche, nothing special" Until they stop making air-cooled and they skyrocket. And now they stop making manuals and they skyrocket.
A Gallardo, for another example, was about the surest fire way to set flames to your folding stuff. You would have been better off just flushing your cash right away. They dropped steadily for years, within the reach of even the mildly well-off. And then Lamborghini stopped making them and went ahead and released the Huracan. That for all intents and purposes hasn't gone down all that well. And BOOM.
Suddenly everyone wants to hang onto their Gall, and every other person wants one. So the prices edge up and the demand dries up. Because, "Shit... It's over. There will be nothing like this again."
With everything. That's it. What we have now is all we'll ever have.
It's already happening to the 996/7. And it will happen to the 991 by the time the 99999 comes around.

I think you are right. I remember when I had my SC. It was a lovely car. Aust. Delivered, sunroof delete, 3 owner, low km. But only an SC - shitty CIS injection and average performance. I remember when I would go to the Qld Porsche club meeting and felt like a lepar in it. Now they are in such demand it is outrageous. They are a nice car but not worth what some buyers out there are prepared to pay. I think people have been caught up in the moment driven by the market.Originally posted by BLO 767 View PostLike I said to spiller a little while back (I think?) all those Sydney real estate profits have to be spent somewhere. :p

Under steer is hitting the wall with your front end. Over steer is hitting the wall with your tail end. Horsepower if how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how much of the wall you take with you after you hit it.

This is what happens if you take a 964 Turbo body, take out all interior lights, take out the complete radio system, take out the electronic windows, repaint it inside, outside and underneath, weld an integrated roll cage (IRC), shave the rain gutters, install a 993 GT2 racing engine and gearbox, change the interior to full lightweight alcantara spec:
A special made "RUF RCT 600 - Black beauty -"If in doubt power out
